Have you ever gone to a submission wrestling tournament and wondered what you were getting? Here are some of the different points of views.
1) As a spectator you are waiting impatiently for your friend, loved one, or teammate to finish because you have been there for 8 hours and have better things to do than watch total strangers roll around with one another.
2) As a team member you want to win the team trophy, but your team only trains in a gi or no-gi. How are we going to win?
3) As a coach who always brings a big team shouldn’t you get more than the team trophy at the end of the day?
4) As a competitor you have been training hard and wouldn’t you like to win a little more than a medal?
5) Did you fight some hard fights and not even place?
6) We all train hard and have nagging muscle injuries. Wouldn’t it be great to have someone give you their expert opinion?
7) Have you been training for years and want to see world champions going at it?
8 ) And to make this experience even more grueling the weigh-ins were at 8am, your hungry, but don’t know if you can leave because you don’t know when you fight. Now it’s 6pm and you’ve had nachos all day and they are still only on the white belts. We’ve all been there.

2) We understand that some schools focus on wearing a gi or not wearing one. So we will have Team Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both the Gi and No-Gi divisions.

What that means is that the coach can take 25 people to Hooters and have unlimited wings for 1-hour!!! Coaches what better way to celebrate with your students than to eat for FREE!!!
4) Can I expand my knowledge after winning my division? All competitors who win their respective division will have their names in a random drawing with the other winners of that experience level to receive a DVD from www.OnTheMat.com . Each video is valued at $30 a piece. There are a total of 11 experience levels and their will be 11 videos won!
Okay maybe you are not convinced on the benefits of The Elite Submission Championships. Let’s do this. All 1st place winners of the Mens’ Gi and No-Gi will receive 10 free wings from Hooters as well. That means 80 divisions will get the gold, receive FREE food, and have a chance to win a grappling DVD.

7) Want to see what Professional Submission Fighters’ games look like in person? You don’t have to go to Brazil, California, or any where else in the world. We are bringing those fighters to you at the Elite Submission Championships in Houston, TX. Not only are these guys coming with their A-games. They are going to have incentive to go for the submission. We will have an 8-Man Pro Division: $1,000 winner, $200 Second place, plus a Bonus of $100 per submission in the Quarter-Finals and Finals.
8)How are we going to be on time and not be like the other tournaments?
•We will run 8 fully staffed mats (so you won’t be sitting around all day).
•Weigh-ins will be similar to tournaments in Brazil, you will weigh-in just before your division begins that day.
•Brackets will be posted on the net prior to the event so you will know who & when you fight.
•Brackets will be updated on the walls as the event occurs so competitors will know who & when they fight throughout the day.
•In order to make this one of the best events of the year we will need all competitors to PRE-Register (No exceptions) by Oct. 4th, 2006.
•NO ONE will be allowed to register after Oct. 4th!!!!
