'The UFC' is a scam. Dana White is the scam artist. His goal is to make the most money for himself and his compadres by jipping his fighters, us fans, and spreading his 'ultimate fighting' propagada to anyone who doesnt know shit about MMA through the use of Spike tv. Dont by UFC product, period.

News - that is the goal of EVERY SINGLE professional sport organisation. To MAKE MONEY. If fans don't like the product, they won't buy the PPVs or go to events. If fighters aren't getting a good deal, they won't fight (although lately the UFC has been making a ton of money, and the fighters are going to be making a whole lot more soon - already the top guys like Liddell, Tito are making close to a million per fight...).

The UFC is a BUSINESS. Period. Dana White's job is to make the UFC money. Period. End of story.

Anderson is a great fighter but even in Pride was nothing special.....Penn fights all over the place so i wouldnt really call him a UFC fighter....and Monson is as far away from Great as possible.

No thanks, UFC brought 'The UFC' or 'Ultimate Fighting' to the mainstream, not MMA. And PRIDE made it in Las Vegas(after 4 years of planning and negotiation) in spite of UFC's mainstreamicity.

I do like UFC though alot, i just wouldnt put money in Dana White's pockets. Some dumbass said, "well, Tito and Chuck make like a million per fight". Well, what about fighters on the undercards? Their purses are like 1,000 dollars. Thats chump change. "But their XYIENCE contracts are worth so much more!" Ok, well thats money from XYIENCE, not UFC. Shit, Rich Franklin got payed 27,000 dollars from UFC for fighting Anderson Silva. But he made alot more money from his XYIENCE contract so everythings ok, right?

Also, UFC puts together the crappiest PPV cards every month, charges 40$ for it, and then has the nerve to only show 4 fights(including the lackluster main and co main events) plus commercials! But hey, no one is forcing you to watch 15 minutes of lay and pray involving a TUFer or some other highly marketable good looking fighter

its only because theres so many rednecks, but once people learn more about the sport and know how the moves work like the japanese fans do, everyone will realize what ufc stands for: a company with average fighters with the occational stars. better fighters cost more money so why have alot of them. i think alot of people lost some money on the franklin fight when he lost. i'm sure dana white left a couple skid marks when he saw that go down.

interesting fight, I think Henderson has the ground advantage since Vitor is really a purple belt , I pick Dan in this one but Vitor by sheer odds is due for a win

My comment had nothing to do with Pride being "desperate." I like Pride, and it's also clearly the better "world" fight organization.

But I'm not too crazy about Americans who ignore the fact that the UFC has played a pretty significant role in making MMA more socially acceptable here.

Or also dismiss UFC fighters...yes, we all know the HW top dogs of Pride(Fedor, Big Nog, Crocop, Barnett) would probably kill the UFC HWs.
And we also know that the lesser guys like Kharitanov and Alex Emelianenko could beat both Tim Sylvia or Monson. But letting that keep you from enjoying great fighters like Matt Hughes, GSP, Loiseau, Sherk, etc. is just retarded. Granted, I don't ever pay full price to watch UFC PPVs, so the $40 price tag doesn't affect me.
And in the lower weight classes, I think a lot of the UFC fighters are at the very least even with the Pride guys. I really don't see anybody from Pride taking Matt Hughes or BJ Penn. Sherk is a pretty tough, powerful fighter, I like Gomi as well, but I would still say it's hard to call. And as for Liddell v Silva, I could definitely see Liddell winning that one. It's only the HWs where Pride has a clear cut advantage.

Point is, Pride would probably not have been able to make a success out of its Vegas show without MMA becoming popular in the US as a whole. And MMA would not have been popular so quickly here without the UFC.

Generally, I do agree Pride fight cards absolutely own UFC fight cards. I mean, Final Conflict Absolute was just amazing, and that I WOULD have paid full price for.
But let's be honest, the Real Deal was not a Big Deal.

Hopefully, the next one will have better fights.

Lawler - Villasenor
Ended too damn quickly, but I wasn't hyped about it anyway. Crap.

Nakamura - Galbraith
Was pretty impressive, and it's always fun to see judo throws in MMA, not something you see everyday. Solid, but not main card material.

Baroni - Nishijima
I don't care for either, but I was hoping to see a slugging match between two big guys with boxing backgrounds. THAT could've been fun, even if not a particularly "slick" display. Instead, we got crappy grappling. Yay.

Henderson - Belfort
OK, I was looking forward to this one. And the action was actually pretty good. But in this particular weight class I actually prefer watching the UFC fighters.

Butterbean - O'Haire
I WAS looking forward to seeing him fight Mark Hunt. Instead we got a TERRIBLE fight. Too bad about Hunt.

Barnett - Nastula
Pretty good. Barnett is enough of a character to make even a pretty slow fight bearable. Barnett is IMO the best guy Pride has to connect with US audiences, and is also a pretty good rep for the US for Japan. They freaking love him over there.

Shogun - Randleman
Could've been a good fight, but Randleman decided to be dumb.

Fedor - Coleman
Overhyped fight. We all knew what was coming. Gonna be like watching Hughes vs either Lytle or Serra...if the UFC really gives them title shots. No contest.

They didn't put up many top notch contenders up against each other. Granted, beating what they had for Final Conflict Absolute is going to be damn, DAMN hard, but still...only the Henderson - Belfort fight had any element of suspense. With every other fight, I already knew who would win.
