Does anybody know of any colleges/universities (preferably in the northeast) that have mma, bjj, or muay thai programs of some kind? My applications are due in this week and I would love to have the option of going someplace where i could continue practicing. Even colleges with some good facilities in the surrounding towns would be good to know. Thanks.

Where are you living at now? Also, what degree do you plan on pursuing? Are you going to bounce from a community college to a university, or do you plan on going straight to a university? Which colleges have the best programs that make you reach your highest potential to earn the degree? Which ones are you likely able to be accepted in?
I think it would be a good idea to narrow it down for us. Then we'll let you know what MMA schools are around those campuses. If not already being held there.

I've never seen a MMA or Muay Thai course in the bulletin, but as far as I know just about everywhere has Judo
I think you'll probably have to find a club or gym in the area rather than actually through the school, but be sure to look through the bulletin. If you see any courses offered that even slightly interest you give it a shot since you're not paying by the unit anyway. I got into Judo because the archery class was full!

college ma programs tend to suck, at least it did in my experienced. the clubs arent much better either. i visited a jiu jitsu club at a university here not too long ago, and it was a bunch of white belts doing nothing but can-openers and ankle locks anytime they got into guard, it was terrible.

At the University of Rhode island, we have a MMA Club but it is really essentially a grappling club because the school doesn't want us killing each other.
There are also a few good establishments, Borrelli MMA Training Center is 4 minutes away, the Mat Santos Fighting Academy is 30-something minutes away, and Tim Burrill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Tim is fantastic, check him at timburrill.com) is under an hour away.
