  • Weekend Warrioring

    Hello everyone.
I wanted to get everyone's opinion on something. As everyone knows I'm busy and broke these days. So I had to put a hold on some of my BJJ dojo training, and even getting together with some old sparring friends (though I still occasionally do this)
Anyway, I am always trying to find the time to put in my training, if nothing more than habit. Recently I have been doing lots of calisthenics, lifting weights, and doing lots of drills, and G&P on wrestling dummies, etc.
I doubt I'll be winning any trophies with this basic training, but do you guys think it's okay for the time being? Ground/Pound and submission drills on a dummy won't let you beat another grappler probably, but do you think that kind of training is enough from just a basic self-defense standpoint? Keeping in mind that I've had a few years of hardcore rolling behind me. Though right now, I have not the time nor the money to join a school again.

My martial art has kind of gone down to a hobby at this point. Though I still get a few good days in my schedule.

    What are your thoughts?

    Take care,
    Ryu

Something is better than nothing! It wont replace a good teacher and some sparring but it'll keep the "rust" from forming from the lack of training. The hard part is keeping up with it and not dumping your training all together. Just remain consistant and ride it out until you can attend a school!
