  • Carlos Machado... how good is he?

My instructor(Tim Burrill, a second degree black belt under Carlos Machado) has talked him up everytime someone asks about him. I havent done any research on him, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how good he is. I know he's a cousin of the Gracies, but is he a world class instructor??

I am in no way calling my instructor in question. We have one of the best Jiu-Jitsu schools in New England from what I understand. I'm just wondering.

I've heard several Machado blackbelts refer to Carlos as the best instructor of all five Machado brothers.

I've heard other blackbelts under Rickson, Carlson Sr., Carlinhos, and others that have referred to Carlos Machado as one of the best out there.

He really is one of the better jits coaches around.

Yes, he’s definitely world class in competition and instruction. I used to train under Jean Jacques Machado in Cali. While Jean Jacques is a bit more decorated in competition, I believe Carlos (older brother) is a better teacher.

Cool. Yea, I've heard from yonkers how he came up as a brownbelt from texas and was killing black belts at boston jiu-jitsu(or mabye it wasn't yonkers lol). I was just wondering if TIM is really good, or if Carlos was really good. I guess I'ts both lol.

Carlos is a top notch instructor. I highly recommend training with him if you ever get the opportunity.
