That's exaclty what I thought!!! Because the guard is a neutral position. But I know samurai has been doing bjj longer so I just figured I was wrong.

I don't think he was trying to posture up very much. It could have been because of the dehydration... in fact... it probably was.

Standing is stacking to get out, it's not posturing. And him defending with his hand on his forehead is no substitute for posture.

I know it was the elbows. I've already stated that in an above post. I'm merely stating that the triangle shouldn't have happened to a normal Travis Lutter. He wasn't himself and normally his grappling is much better than Silva's.
Maybe...but then it's being said Anderson Silva was recovering from double knee surgery involving meniscus tears for this fight...which then means you could ask if a "normal" A. Silva would've been taken down so easy.

And if a "normal" Lutter is the one who hasn't been cutting weight, he doesn't belong in that weight class anyway.

A sweep has always been when you reverse from being on the bottom to being on top.

Just because you dont get points for it in grappling competitions doesnt change it.

How is being mounted and taking away an opponents base, and rolling over on top of him, different than being in gaurd, taking away your opponents base and rolling over him.

Also standing up is posturing in a triangle.

Stacking is when your leaning into them, trying to pass with pressure. He was trying to pass, but he was also standing to try to loosen the legs, and get his head or arm out.

You know why Lutter got caught in that triangle? because of that nasty upkick that Anderson delivered right after he pushed Lutter off with his feet.

If Lutter had a trainer, coach and team behind him, he would have made weight, and been in better shape to finish Silva on the ground like how he should have when he had mount.

**** thats what I was gonna mention but I was forgetting in my previous post, I knew I was missing something.

It wasnt Silva's bjj that caught lutter in that triangle it was the upkick. Dont get me wrong he still caught him, heck I like Silva more than lutter, but I was gonna make that point too. Oh well.
