Uh....no? Where does MY mentality ever get to the point of arrogance? Positive means thinking good things, not necessarily cocky things such as 'I'm going to smash up this so and so and YEAHHHHHHHH'.

Good day. Was good try though, I'll give you that much.

Positive means "I'm going to win this thing," or "I will not lose."
What I'm saying is "I'm going to go out there and do my thing."
Like the Nike symbol. Just do it.

What's up with the snootiness? Why you got to be a snoot?

        Pre-fight jitters

I too suffer from this, can be fighting fit, great cardio sparring hard for hours, technically have no doubts but come comp time it all goes. Winyourmmafight.com is place where you can find more about how to relax before your fight or comp. The tips given there helped me a lot.

Yes, that's what positive means. But where does 'my' mentality ever talk about 'fucking up some punk ass because if i lose he'll laugh at my family'? I've not encouraged THAT kind of rubbish. Please don't pervert my words into something they're not, sir.

What's with the cursing? What's with the perversion? Why you have to be a pervert? Let's not go there.

Please, Garland, it's words. I'm sure you'll live.

            1) You are contradicting half the shit you said with the non-ego thing...
            2) No shit sherlock, I was the one making the "let's go out there like some stimulant shot up ape and smash the teeth out of this prick" statements, and I stand by them as a valid mentality for fighting.
            3) I NEVER tried to pervert your words...and "sir" coming from you sounds condescending in the context of your posts...
            4) What's with the perversion...I haven't posted anything perverted in this thread...if you want me to talk at length about my midget, bbw, gilf, and sadomasochistic sex fetishes...by all means, I can SHOW you perversion. "Let's not go there"...look at you...is that the best you have, calling me a pervert out of the blue without justification? Okay...I'll cop to it. And I like my women to act like cops with handcuffs and shit. So long as they don't break out the plunger and a tub of lard, I'm cool.
            5) I might not live...one of these days I could forget the safe word.

Here's your fucking Vince Lombardi quote:

"If you can accept losing you can't win. If you can walk you can run. No one is ever hurt. Hurt is in your mind" -- Vince Lombardi

This is exactly my philosophy on it. You should be going out there with the mentality to win at all costs (within the rules, within competition), and that losing isnt an option, whether its to avoid embarassment, avoid the physical punishment, avoid the mental dissapointment of losing, etc...

You train your ass off to get to this point, you deserve to go out there and win, if you need to think about smashing the guys fucking face in to get rid of the jitters and perform your best, do it, if you need to sit in a dark room, do it, if you need to listen to britney spears, do it.

And I do agree with Garland, if you go out there and lose, that fight should be remembered as a war, and every time that guy tells the story he should have to say "that was the hardest fight I've ever had".

Skill wise, luck wise, whatever you may not always make this happen, but you sure as hell better try your hardest.

awwww I just love newbie questions like how to deal with prefight jitters

seriously though with experience they will lesson, but do whatever works for you to deal with them as only you know your mind and body and how it respondes to stress. It is normal And natural to be a little nervous before a full-contact fight after all the possibility of getting knocked out exists.
For me I used to just say: I accept the fact that I colud get knocked out, my nose broken, my teeth knocked out of my mouth, ect. but I do not care that's the way of things in fighting I will apply my strategy to the best of my ability that I have trained for and I will always try to inflict more damage on my opponent than he inflicts on me I will not let him impose his will no matter what. In the begining I used to get nervous fighting but in the last days I used to almost run to the ring with excitment. The biggest jitter day for me was one day beforew the fight let's just do it already. The day of a fight I was not nervous I awoke with a calm spirit, in short just fight, fight and fight and you will become accostomed to it.
