In the opening seconds of r.1 he took a few straight off the bell.

That first exchange set the tone of the entire fight. He gave the "grappler" time to find the right attack...

    And surprise!!! The head kick!

That was a graphic KO for sure.

That leg was sick twisted the way he fell straight down on it...

Fear? Gonzaga was freaking huge, and presented a ground threat. Maybe also surprise at how well Gonzaga was moving.

Of course, if he was so worried about the takedown it's odd that he'd just throw a kick out there without setting it up.

Maybe he was looking for the highlight KO? Or maybe his training isn't what it used to be.

To be honest, while very little is really known about how/who most fighters train, we really know nothing about Crocop.

But I agree, even his initial standup just looked terrible compared to what it used to be. But that could also just mean Gonzaga's that good...

Cro-Crop is one of the best fighters alive. Even the greats have bad days. He just didn't bring his A game.

I know most of us here are from the US, but anybody else catch the Machida vs Heath fight?

Machida was incredibly impressive. Very interesting to see a TMA oriented striker do so well. It's too bad they decided to air Kongo v Silva instead. Heck, even Arlovski v Werdum was more boring, but I think it got aired simply b/c Arlovski was fighting.

Crocop was hurt from the bottom of the guard, and was WAY cautious after that.

Huge upset, seeing Crocop get Crocopped.

According to his latest interview, he claims the elbows made his vision blurry and that he couldn't see the kick coming until it was too late.

Guess not training in a cage or elbow defense just gives your opponent a huge opening.
