A question about Shamrock v. Fujita

I saw the fight a week after it happened on the Fuji TV rebroadcast. Ken was beating the snot out of Fujita before he decided to throw in the towel. Why did he quit? Was he sick, injured, or just out of shape? Did they explain it on the US PPV broadcast? I really hope Fujita doesn't get anymore lucky wins. I'm tired of seeing Inoki's lantern jaw at ringside.

I haven't seen it yet, but from what I heard the night of the fight Fujita started beating the hell out of Ken near the end of the bout.
Didn't Fujita start connecting hard?

No, Ken beat Fujita in every way. Towards the end of the fight he just tied him up and stalled. But Fujita wasn't doing anything. After the towel was thrown in Fujita was asking him why he stopped. He looked more surprised than anyone. Ken seemed to just totally gas out. But maybe he broke his hand or something.

Did you see the fight? Before I saw it I thought maybe it was a work. But after seeing it I'd have to say that the only way it was a work is if Ken forgot that it was supposed to be a fake fight and then suddenly remembered and thew in the towel to avoid knocking him out.

Fujita's mouthpiece fell out from the force of Ken's blows! No way it can be a work. He gassed plain and simple. Ken even said so on Eyada. Ken WAS dominating the fight, then as the fight progressed, his shots got a little bit weaker. Then towards the end, he just gave up and hung on.

This loss really hurts his reputation, losing to a B-level fighter like Fujita. Damn that guy can take a beating though.

Ken's "gameness" definitely failed him. I guess Fujita took away his "warrior spirit".

Ken admitted on eYada that he wasn't prepared. He gave up.

I don't know why he didn't go to the mat with Fujita. The guy barely has more submission skill than I do.

I didn't say I could TAP Fujita, and he IS a goddamn monster, but that doesn't make him an elite submission fighter.

Ken was having major problems training for this fight.
From what I heard out of Dallas he was having dizzy spells in training and many of his guys were worried about him. The confidential word was if Ken didn't finish him quick, he'd lose. I found this out right before they flew out for Japan. I promised not to say anything until after it was over and will not give out my source of information because I don't want to cause him problems with Ken, but Shamrock had dire physical problems before he left. In the shape I heard he was in, which obviously was straight stuff, Ken was crazy to get in the ring.

That was no worked fight. Kenny shot his wad and was left w/ nothing at the end of round 1. Pure & simple. He was throwing bombs on Fujita all night. Fujita's only skill seems to be taking punishment like some old junkyard dog. His main expertise is in blocking punches & kicks w/ his face. I can't believe he is given the respect that he is by so many.

when i was reading the play by play coverage on the underground it sounded like a work, they said "kens hitting him hard........BUT OH NO!!! the punches have no effect, fujita's asking for more!!!" so i had my suspicions....but then i saw the match, ken does rock fujita with some huge punches, no way was that a work, I think although ken has now improved his striking so he is now a good striker, he has not had much of a chance to use the striking in a match so when he did he gassed, simple as that.
or i hope so........i hate works.
