I dunno man, what are the rankings based on? Records? Who would beat who?
Cuz I got a bone to pick with you on some of those there. :P

And then there's the issue of who could make weight or not. Ignoring the 5 pound difference, and counting only those guys who have consistently fought at LW at some point:

    1)BJ Penn
    2)Sakurai
    3)Gomi
    4)Gilbert Melendez
    5)Kawajiri
    6)Pulver
    7)Sherk
    8)Stevenson
    9)Franca
    10)Aoki

Other guys who arguably could make it...Huerta, Florian, Hansen...
But none of those three have beaten another top 10 guy in UFC/Pride...Aoki makes the cut by subbing Hansen.
I'm not counting Guillard as I'm assuming he won't be fighting under either Zuffa org any time soon.

I know he should be up there, but with all those guys on the HW top 10, i dont think there's not one of them who couldnt submit him, except Cro Cop and Sylvia. He should be up there, i just couldnt fit him in. Honorable mention i guess. Aleksander Emelianenko is would honorable mention too i guess.

Im basing all my rankings on a combo of who's beaten who recently, who i think would beat others based on their styles and gameplans, and who has been consistent in winning against other top competition. If they are a title holder that automatically puts them at atleast top 2.

Yeah lightweight is a hard weight class to rank. Everyone's got there opinions. I think you have Sherk and Stevenson way too low on the ranking.

I want to see a rematch between Sakurai and Gomi. Sakurai has worked so hard and Gomi seems like he has lost some of his drive.

          How long is Guillard suspended?

Yeah, I was gonna say Hunt should definitely be there. Impossible to KO, and against Fedor he seemed to have improved his ground game to a competitive level. "Almost" had Fedor in trouble, and gave Fedor some trouble submitting him.

I think Sherk actually has a lot of potential in real matchups with the others to win...same goes for Stevenson. But Stevenson hasn't really been "tested", and Sherk's one cross promotional fight had him boring out a decision win over a spoon fed Japanese can.

And everybody ranked above them has proven that they throw absolute BOMBS standing up, and have pretty good takedowns and TD defense themselves.

This also ties into the difficulty of figuring out who's better b/c the elbows DO make a huge difference. Same goes for the rules...Sherk could lay on a guy in the UFC...can't do that under Pride rules and the posturing up to punch makes him vulnerable to subs. He'll also get stood up more often. Also at issue is knees on the ground.

I think the "current" Sakurai would absolutely walk through the "current" Gomi...

I don't think Gullard's suspension is "that" long. But the bigger issue, IMO is MMA's image. I don't think the UFC management wants to take a risk with a guy dumb enough to get caught with COKE in his bloodstream...especially when he KNEW he had a drug test coming up. Especially now that they can poach Pride LWs, TUF 5 churning out high publicity LWs, and a growing LW division with lots of up and comers. He's just another fish in the sea, and they can afford to let him go.

I noticed you have Dan Henderson at 2 weight classes, but
have no ranking of Penn at welterweight..

He did beat your #1 seed afterall.

I think he intended for Penn to get picked up in the LW rankings.

To be fair, at WW, Penn's recent performance has been less than stellar when we look at just the number of W's.

Dropped 2 in a row to GSP and Hughes.

And he hasn't had as many WW matches.

Well, Dan Henderson did just beat Wanderlei in a title fight. And before that he dominated Vitor Belfort who outweighed him with 10 lbs of muscle. Wanderlei had 6 pounds on him.

Penn has an upcoming fight at 155 so i didnt put him on the list.

It's certainly not the worst list I've ever seen, but nowhere near the most accurate.

                      Some people you misplaced/grossly misplaced...

Heavyweight: Gonzaga,CroCop,Couture(should be number two...)Barnet,Monson, and Hunt.

Light heavyweight: ... ehhh you misplaced everyone and missed some people. Rampage should not be that low... I don't know what you were thinking... Jardine should be below Griffin, just because he won doesn't mean he's a better fighter.

Middleweight: Not too bad on this one. One thing wrong though. Top Middleweight is Lindland. Hands down. Like, no debate, just like Fedor is top heavy weight. In fact Lindland might be the top pound for pound fighter in MMA, how you could miss him is beyond me...

Welterweight: Same as light heavyweight, everyone here is misplaced.

                      Where's your lightweight rankings?

Dude, it's MMA rankings. They're inaccurate by their very nature, and entirely subjective.

No, they don't have to be inacurate by nature... Maybe when it's a close call, but other than that, no.

Fedor, no one will disagree he's the top heavyweight. Penn, if he goes to 155, no one can deny he's the best. Lindland, top middle weight, period. I mean, I could keep goin but I'm sure you get the picture.

And in my rankings I put Penn at #1...but I'm guessing that Triangle would automatically put Sherk at at least 2 or 3 due to being the UFC champ. Which is fine...everybody's got their own system.

I put him as H.M. cause there simply isnt enough spots. Most of those Heavyweights would sub him expect for the guys like Sylvia and Cro Cop who are the only ones he could probably beat now.
