I think people are wondering what the heck you’re talking about. are you talking about all the associations? actual schools (ex. tarzana, torrance, dallas)?

further more, I don’t think anyone here really cares enough to have kept track of such standings. maybe you can contact the academy directly?

Yes I was wondering which school is #1. Machado ads always say their team is #1 in USA, but never say which of their teams is #1.

dude, i think they mean it overall, across the board. not pinpointing a specific school/location.

yes, they tend to fair quite well in sport jj. i think most here will vouch for that.

                *ughhhhh*

noooooo... it's more like they probably have more accumulated wins than any other school. not that they're #1 in every area. get it?

                *sigh*

In that case, does anyone know which of their schools has gotten the most wins?

I would assume that Machado Torrance has the least wins because they face the toughest competition.

Basically what I'm asking is, are they just using one or two of their schools to claim that their whole chain is #1 or are all their schools really that good?

                      Hi
Just today I had the pleasure of rolling with Jean Jacques Machado.
Now I have a lot of mat time logged in my book from wrestling in school .
I think i would do well with a blue belt in BJJ
just so you can relate my experence.
Well back to Jean Jacques I witnessed him submit 30 or more students at the seminar one by one. He had fun with them . he wanted to roll with everyone.
so i waited till the end thinking ok he will be really tired,i might just stand a chance,if i could go 2 min without tapping that would be great!!!!
Well not a chance! 30sec if that ! the last thing i remember after he let me get behind him was i was a little high he tried to roll me i shifted back ,he went for a triangle hold and i was tapping . All in 30sec.if that
And him and Marcos Santo & brother were fantastic WOW what a great experence!

First of all, why would you say the Torrance guys have tougher competition? I hardly agree and I've competed in both areas of the US. Have you!?!?!?

If you would, please check out the rest of the Machado schools, before making any crazy assumptions.

I think if you look at the results of the Gracie x Machado tournament, it kinda gives you an idea of the Machado's skills. (Machados won 24 of 28 matches)

But that was all the Machado schools vs. Gracie Torrance, so it wasn't really a fair tournament. I'd like to see a tournament with only Dallas, Torrance, or Tarzana against Gracie Torrance, not all of them.

BTW, have any of the Machado schools faced each other in tournaments?

I don't see how you can say that tournament wasn't fair. I mean it was set up by Rorion, with Rorion's rules.

I guess the diffrence between the Machados and what you guys see at the Gracies, is money never split the Machados up. When we go to the Pan-Ams, Mundials, or any other tournament for that matter, everyone competes for MACHADO JJ. It's never one brother or school against another.
