  • Best submission wrestling competion rules

Whats do you think are the best rules to judge the best grapplers out there?

ADCC is the biggest tournament for grapplers to win and best names attend, however alot of the bouts are decided on point victories. Is it not better to have no time limit and submission or choke wins only?

Also should slams be allowed and standing choke holds, as I see this as a big part of a wrestlers arsenal?

Went in a competition recently which allowed skriking standing up only and submissions only on the ground (no striking).
It was a good set of rules and I would hope to see more like it, as it produced a very technical fight, much more technique than in UFC (but not good for the general non martial artist mass public, but how cares about them)

    hello,

this is a very very involved question. true adcc is the biggie, but that is largely because of the money involved. if not for that, do you think it really would have gotten off the ground?

    not likely.

as far a scoring, it gets difficult. tedious even. the major styles that possess scoring systems are freestyle wrestling, greco roman wrestling, sumo, sirrum, judo, cambo, jiujitsu, submission, indian wrestling, shuai chiao, and mongolian wrestling.

each has a scoring system geared to a different result. trying to create a scoring system to accomodate every style would be a monumental undertaking. likely the situation will remain as it currently is. each organization will have thier own way of doing it.

in this way we will continue to have favorites from every style.

    thanks.
