  • Commentary Video Match Analysis - Braulio Estima 2003 Pan Ams

This is a video commentary that I did on this match of Braulio Estima at the 2003 Pan Ams.

I recommend that you watch the regular video first to see what you notice in the match. Then watch the video with the commentary and slow motion to see if you noticed what I noticed then lets get some great technical conversations from there. I think it will help a lot more.

I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

Those guys were good grapplers (both of them) no doubt about it.

So with all due respect in mind I humbly offer this> For what it's worth...

In the first viewing it is difficult to notice the details of each technique and transition but it seemed to me there was some splendid opportunity for a leg lock in the opening moments while avoiding the initial attempt at dojime...

When presented with the legs (as in "pulling" so called "guard" position) it would be sweet to see it swiftly crushed... It's not very friendly (like choking) but it can get the submission.

In the slow motion viewing my observation was fairly confirmed. Potential leg attacks were all but ignored. (with one exception attempted)

So much for the critique. Show me a judo gi, I see Judo. Those guys were both excellent jacket wrestlers who flew through each motion. The technical fundamentals for each transition shows a good understanding of kuzushi, timing and technique.

That was a fast paced match and fun to watch. Thanks for sharing. I'd rather hear your commentary than Joe Rogan's if you can keep up in real time...

I know... it's impossible to say everything as fast as they were doing it.
