I *think* I've seen him state before that he had no interest in fighting in the HW div.

          Tito

Daddio on the one hand I agree with you. it does seem somewhat unfair for Tito to fight guys up to 20lbs under him at times. But on the other hand what is the difference of having him go up to heavy to fight at 210-215 and fight guys 250lbs? Is it the situation you don't like or Tito? Maybe a light-heavy division is the soution.

SoCal, good to hear from you as always...

Qkfx, I agree with you that there should be a light heavyweight class. What's your opinion on the range... 195-225lbs?

Anybody that thinks Tito's a natural middleweight is crazy! His head alone weighes 60lbs.!

Don't count on it. The NJ athletic board just changes the weight classes. Tito's weight class will now be light heavyweight going from 185-204. They just made it easier for Tito to make weight.

As our beloved sport evolves, it needs to have more weight divisions. Look at almost any combat sport - wrestling, judo, boxing - there are plenty of weight divisions because especially at the highest levels, small differences in weight (and consequently strength, mass, etc.) affects the contest.

There should be at least 6 weight divisions in MMA. And that's up to the different organizers to figure out the cutoffs. A 20 lbs. difference is too much at this level, or any level.

                  New regulations

I read up on some of the N.J. comissions new regulations on Sherdog's site. While I think some of them are completely stupid, such as no shoes for sanitary reason?? Could it work out so that certain varaibles could change from match to mtach. Like with boxing, the rules regarding being saved by the bell, nnumber of rounds etc... Maybe some matches will allow knees and kicking on the ground? Could someone who knows boxing comment on how they see this thing developing?
