  • The day Muay Thai beat Ninjutsu

I never thought I would see this day until I viewed Pride13 last week on Direct TV.

The new rules in Pride which allows knees to the head were made for Muay Thai fighters. Poor Saku seemed confused and unable to defend against the knees of Silva. I felt sorry for him and wished I was in his corner telling him what to do. This was a sad day for all Ninjutsu stylists. I now understand how BJJ guys felt when Saku's Ninjutsu was making a mockery of BJJ.

I have written to Saku offering my services as a specialist coach to assist him in winning a rematch with Silva. A couple of simple techniques could have neautralised the knees of Silva.

This is indeed a sad time for Ninjutsu the world over

    Oh the humanity!

Man, now all the local ninjustu students are going to wear Muay Thai shorts over their ninja outfits when they train...

Does Kaz know he's a ninja? If he doesn't he'd probably be the best, no?

Saku is a Ninja, his primary art is Ninjutsu.

Note that Saku introduced the use of a mask to MMA.
Note that Saku uses a cartwheel to pass the guard.

Saku is a true modern Ninja. And a Gracie Killer.

Do you find something amusing about Saku being severely beaten?

A couple weeks ago somebody (nobody here currently)was on here saying how Ninjutsu was useless and would never work in a MMA or street setting.

I'm no expert but that didn't sound right to me as I had thought I had heard many people say it was effective, and I have seen it work myself.

I know next to nothing about it (i.e. does it address the ground game very well? I don't know). I did know enough however to let the guy know (the guy bashing Ninjutsu) that he was full of B.S., as I had heard some good things about Ninjutsu.

Besides I think all (or almost all) MAs deserve respect, they all have some good and bad points. It is obvious however, as everyone here knows some MAs are alot more effective in a MMA setting.

FACT: Ninjutsu was the first style to cover the essential four ranges of fighting.

FACT: Steven Hayes tried to educate America about grappling and submission holds in the early 1980's

FACT:Many Ninjutsu techniques have been stolen by BJJ. For example, the rear naked choke, the armbar and the keylock.

FACT:A good Ninjutsu fighter has many many more lethal techniques than the equivalent Karateka, Judoka, Aikidoka or Kungfujoka.

FACT: Everyone is too embarrassed to admit they loved the Ninja movies from the 1980's.

FACT: Most modern fighters real influence was either Sho Kosugi or Bruce Lee, not the Gracies or the UFC as wrongly believed by many.

Shimora let me ask you a question.

Why do you enjoy being a troll? I could just as easily do what you do, but I can't bring myself to it. I can't say that I'm all that outgoing and that I have the most interesting life, but I know I have more of a life than to be a troll on a BJJ discussion board.

                        Hookah Smoking Caterpillar,

Thanks for your comments. Firstly you are mistaken when you label me a troll. If you read my posts you will find that I am just stating my opinion. If my opinion happens to differ from yours does that instantly make me a troll?

"Why do you enjoy being a troll? I could just as easily do what you do, but I can't bring myself to it. "

What a ridiculous statement. I could just as easily do what you do also, but i'd send myself to sleep at my keyboard writing such inane crap that noone cares about.

                        Peace

In all honesty, whether you consider yourself a troll or not, a lot of what you write is there to piss people off. If you honestly believe that Sakuraba is a ninja because he wore a mask to the ring then I think Silva is a Jiu Jitsu fighter because I've seen him use the guard. So Jiu Jitsu beat Ninja. Whats your point? And as far as nobody caring about my posts, what are you on here to make friends? I thought this was a disussion board, not a place to win a popularity contest.

What the hell are you talking about shimora? Everyone should know by now that the rear naked choke, armbar, and keylock were all stolen by ninjitsu from none other than Ralph Machio himself. Not only was he a great actor , but he was the father of all modern martial arts, playing a critical role in the evolution of every system.
