  • Sak should fight Kimo again

Sak needs to go at it again with Kimo.

If any other top fighter lost, we would want a rematch. Frank took on Lober again.

And Royce needs to fight Wallid again.
    Same with Sperry vs. Igor.

Sak has nothing to prove by fighting Kimo. And Igor can't fight anymore. He had to have discs fused in his neck after the Shamrock fight. He hasn't fought since.

I would like to see Royce and Wallid again.

      Ground Control:

Are you SERIOUS about Igor's vertebrae? Damn.

I love MMA, but sometimes I wonder.

I'm skeptical of fights being called "works", but Kimo has done nothing since the Sak fight to justify them fighting again. I think it would be an easy win for Sak, especially in Pride rules.

"Ranger" Stott should fight Mark Kerr again.

If any other top fighter lost, we would want a rematch. Frank took on Lober again.

And Fred needs to fight Rhodes again.
        Same with Ramirez vs. Frye.

Sak needs to fight Kimo again.

Look at it from this angle:
Royce, Renzo and Royler lost to Sak. Everyone makes such a big deal about it. But isn't it funny how many people blow off Sak's lost to Kimo?

It's because Sak lost awhile ago, and has several impressive victories since. So the idea that he needs to revenge a loss is out of most of our minds.

And Sak's loss to Igor is also understood as "well, that makes sense. He was tired after fighting Royce. And he did pretty well against Igor despite that."

The Gracies represent a lot to the NHB community. They are held to a higher standard. I guess it's because they are the ones that brought BJJ and NHB to the US. SO they are linked in our minds as the benchmark of ability. Or as the name to defeat and then rub it in their faces.

And many of them also claimed to be the best. (Which pisses off a lot of folks.) Of course, when a Gracie loses, it is a big deal.

So back to Sak. He's very good. But he has lost. He's lost twice. Once to Kimo and once to Igor. And I'd like to see him avenge both losses. It's good to have a champ who has avenged any losses. So what if he's improved since Kimo. Frank improved since Lober. And Frank took on Lober a second time. I'd like to see Sak beat Kimo. (Not as much as Sak vs. Rickson or Frank, but still I'd like to see it.)

As far as Fred Ettish--give me a break. He's quite a talent. You know what, if Ranger Scott did beat Kerr, I'd want a rematch. If anyone beat Sak, no matter who it was, it is a big deal. There should be a rematch. I'd like to see Sak vs. Kimo rather than Sak vs. some nobody. Kimo is a goods fighter. He's not great, but he's good. And he beat Sak.

I thought it was common knowledge that it was a work(at least on Sak's part).

Also, according to Sak it was a work. I say this because he said in an interview that his first MMA match was with Conan, and that match happened about a year and a half after the Kimo match.

                  I hadn't heard it was a work.

That was no work, boys. Sak gave up his back in a REAL NHB fight, and got his ass handed to him. Kimo head butted his as and sank in a choke. I admit Sak is a great fighter, but it is a different game in real NHB.

I have sources in the Northeast that tell me Fred Ettish has developed an even stronger ground game and is planning a comeback.

It appears he is employing some very progressive training techniques. He has purchased a Clydesdale and is having the horse kick him in the face 8 hours a day.

My sources say he should be ready to fight by Pride 12.

I also believe that the fight was real. Sak had no bjj training at the time. He can't KO anyone because he lacks power. Kimo would got him to the ground and overpowered him. Sak has elevated his game since then. But I believe a bigger, stronger accomplished grappler would give him the most trouble because he would be fighting from the bottom. That is someplace that he does not like to be.

Notice that he usually controls where the fight is being fought. He wasn't able to do this with Kimo. That is why Sak fights guys his weight or lighter. I was impressed with his showing against Igor. But do you think that Sak would ever fight him again when they are both fresh?

I think Sak would fight Igor once he has beaten most of the
middleweights out there, like Rickson and Frank. I wonder if Pride would ever set up a Sak vs. Igor. Sak would probably not mind fighting Igor again. He said he was working out his timing on and getting a feeling for Igor, with Takada in Sak's corner discussing Igor's timing.

Realistically though, I don't see an Igor/Sak fight in the near future. That's my hunch as far as Pride goes.

Which Kimo did Sak lose to? Was he 220 or 280? Was he a purple in bjj yet or was he still mostly a brawler? Did the good Lord aid Kimo in this victory?
