The Free-Style Fighting Championship (FFC) is back again in south Florida! We started the FFC last year because we felt that there weren’t enough mixed martial arts and grappling events in south Florida. Our last two events were mixed martial arts events and both were fantastic! This is the FFC’s first grappling event and it is going to be the best sport-grappling event in Florida!
THE FFC SUBMISSION GRAPPLING OPEN is sanctioned by the North American Grappling Association (NAGA). NAGA is the largest grappling tournament circuit in North America. A total of over 3,416 fighters have graced the NAGA’s tournament circuit mat and they aren’t stopping there. This will be one of several tournaments to determine who is the best in the Southeast! NAGA’s last event in Florida, the NAGA Sunshine State Submission Championship, was a great success – and this event is expected to be even better.
This is the first NAGA event in south Florida! We will be having 37 NO-GI Divisions for Kids, Teens, Women, Seniors, and Adults (Beginner through Advanced). The large number of divisions helps eliminate the possibility of mismatches and provides you with the fairest and most comprehensive tournament structuring in the country. This event is strictly a NO-GI tournament (Gi/Uniforms are not required – at a minimum shorts with a draw string, Cup and Mouthpiece must be worn). Medals will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and a Championship Belt will be awarded to the winner of the Absolute Division! We have competitors and teams traveling from all over the Southeast and as far as New York and Idaho to compete. All competitors will be grappling on 26’ by 26’ mats. The mats are new high quality zebra mats. We are also having two great Superfights:
SUPERFIGHTS:
MIKE CARDOSO (USA 2001 Abu Dhabi Qualifier) vs. FEDERICO PEREIRA (FFC Lightweight Finalist)
MARTIN VILLA (Shootfighting Veteran and 2001 NAGA Florida Super Heavyweight Champion) vs. WADE ROME (2001 Arnold Classic Champion and Former 3-Time NCAA Wrestling All-American)
COMPETE IN MULTIPLE DIVISIONS AT NO EXTRA COST: Half of the competitors in a tournament will lose their 1st match. To help you get the most for your money, you may compete in as many divisions as you like at no extra cost! For example, if you are a lightweight beginner, you may compete in middleweight beginner or lightweight intermediate – at no extra cost!
All the spectators and competitors will receive raffle tickets with their admission! Will we will be giving away shirts, gear, and the Grand Prize – a Sega Dreamcast with the UFC Video Game! There is no extra cost for the raffle!
The event is taking place in Miami at Coral Reef High School. Coral Reef High is located at 10101 SW 152 ST, Miami, FL 33157. The price is $50 for competitors at the door and $10 for spectators. Doors open at 9:30am and grappling starts at 11:00am sharp.
