Question for the forum

Hey Guys,

Any of you guys have any stories about street fights that ended with one punch or a quick combo? Doesn't have to be a knockout.
I witnessed a friend of mine hit a guy with such a body shot, he puked beer all over the bar and was sucking air afterwards.

I think these type of fights happen more than most people think. Most people I know have a good story of seeing someone sucker punched.

Was wondering if you guys have any insight or stories to tell.

I have one.

My friend and I were run off the highway by three cowboys in a pick-up. Our car got stuck in the ditch. The three cowboys jumped out of their truck and came running back to our car.

We bailed out of the car. My friend took off running. One of the guys fell into the 8' deep ditch we'd got stuck in and couldn't get out. This left me standing in the middle of US-59 on the white line facing two guys.

The first one came up to me dancing around in a boxing stance. We toed-up and I caught him square on the chin with a front kick. I mean my heel impacted exactly on his button. He dropped like someone had flipped a switch and turned him off in mid-step.

I couldn't frickin believe it. I had been studying TKD for about 6 months (this was in 1984). I just did it because it was the first thing that popped into my head. The other guy said "I'm too old for this shit" and walked back to his truck.

All the traffic on the highway was stopped because of this guy laying in the middle of the road. A couple of minutes later the cops showed up and arrested all the guys because they were in their 20's and we were underage.

I swear on a stack of bibles that this is true. Even at that time, as unexperienced as I was, I still knew what a lucky shot it was.

The one-shot suprise sucker punch can be a VERY effective way to end a fight. Problem is, you only get one, and you must have something else to fall back on in case it doesn't work.

My instructor was once in a hotel lobby when two men attempted to accost him(mistaken identity). He tried to diffuse the situation but these two thugs wanted none of it. One of them grabbed his arm(which is considered ASSAULT) as if to out-muscle him or intimidate him. He executed a technique where he simply turned and delivered a reverse thrust kick using his heel to the man's solar plexus. He said the he could feel at least three of his ribs break. The other thug just ran away and left his friend behind.

Yeah right. Please keep your bullsheet Karate stories to yourself. The reality is your pussy instructor would get his ass kicked in a streetfight.

I was once the victim of a one-punch-knockout.

While attending community college I registered for a martial arts class to get some P.E. credits. I came into the semester about a week late so the first night of class I sat in the bleachers in the gymnasium and watched the class until I could talk to the instructor afterwards.

After class while standing in the hall waiting for the instructor a guy walked up to me and said...

"Do you remember me"?

I said "no".

He said "Well, I remember you" and CRACK, busted me right in the nose with a straight punch out of nowhere.

I saw a bright flash, then a glance of ceiling tiles, then nothing.

When I regained conciousness I was laying in a puddle of bloody books (mine, both) with people standing over me saying "Are you ok?!". I wasn't. It broke my nose. I still have a big lump of calcified cartilige in the bridge of my nose.

A couple of years before I had busted the guy in the back of the head with a rosewood club at a party. I didn't remember him but he certainly remembered me.

Nah, don't have any video. It was way back in the day when people didn't carry video cameras around with them. For some reason I don't think it would measure up to the other puke video.

Don't feel bad. I was knocked out with one punch also. Had a neighbor who was teaching me a little bit about boxing. He was old, out of shape, but still a pretty big guy. I was busting his balls a little and telling him how I could take him. Bare knuckled while holding a beer AND smoking a cigarette, he hit me one shot with that big fist of his and caught me near the temple and at the end of my eyebrow. I go out like a light and when I wake up my face is covered from blood. He took me to the emergency room and I still have a small scar on the brow where I got cut.

My little brother once sucker punched me square on the chin and knocked me on my ass. Luckily I didn't go out and was able to catch the little bastard down the street.

So I've been on the receiving end of the one punch knockout, but I've never delivered one.

one kick

I squared off with a guy in the parking lot at college, he had his left hand down at his waist, so I kicked him in the temple and he dropped like a sack o' poo. Then his 5 buddies jumped in and I got to take a ride in the pretty van with the bright lights. The Dr. who stitched me up either didn't give me enough anestisia or didn't give it time to take effect because it hurst worse than the fight.

I got an Elbow KO once...I threw the first blow and it landed right on the jaw. He just fell to the ground and laid there, then started crying. If it wasnt for my heavy winter coat, which helped buffer the effect, more damage would of been done I think. At least more cosmetic damage.

In high school I sneezed and didnt get my hand up in time.All over the back of the football jocks head who sat in front of me.
On the way out the door after class he stopped turned and nailed me.I was turned talking to someone and never saw it coming.I guess that meant he didnt accept my appology.He was going to finish me off,but his buddy didnt think I could defend myself and held him back.He was right.I was out on my feet.It was weird though.The next day he was totally cool and acted like it never happened.Just pissed I guess.

When I was in 8th grade I was new to the school and all the knew me as was the boxer that coupled with my attitude caused me to get into ALOT of shit. Well this guy was on my ass for about 2 weeks he was a big kid an offensive/defensive lineman on the football team and not fat just solid. Well I got to the point where I couldnt take it anymore,so in between classes I dropped my books and we threw down. I threw about 3 jabs at this guy and he stepped back and drilled me with a right hand. The next thing was a flash and feeling the locker behind me as I staggered backwards. I open my eyes and this kid is hauling ass down the hall. I ended up chasing him down but by the time I got to him the teacher grabbed me. Good thing because he probaly would have knocked my ass out again!

We were playing kickball during recess. It got pretty heated. Then the opposing team kicked this one long ball. I was just standing there looking at this ball speeding toward my face. Then wham, a flash of stars. Next thing I knew I was staring up at the sky and a bunch of 4th graders in a circle were looking down at me.

On a more recent note, just about 2 months ago I saw a two hit KO. I was walking down the sidewalk and two guys were arguing in the middle of the street, probably about who hailed down the taxi. One guy must have pushed the other or something because the other guy kicked him in the groin. First guy hunched over and then got a straight to the jaw. He just fell straight down to the street whereupon the other started kicking him in the ribs about 5 or 6 times then left and walked into the bar. I thought it was pretty stupid that he walked into the bar after beating up someone.
