  • Mixing martial arts? I'm the new guy

Hey guys I'm new and I'm not sure if I put this in the right section well anyways My college classes are done and I'm for the summer until fall and I want to get into mixed martial arts My experience, well I've trained in Tae-kwon-do when I was about 7 years old for a few months before the school I was attending closed down and I trained in some boxing a few years back but I've been through alot of street fights most of My life originally I was interested in taking ninjutsu but the guy who's teaching is a bit overweight so I'm skeptical. Now I've decided I'm going to train in boxing and take another tae-kwon-do class and I net friend in college who knows muy-thai and he's gonna teach Me what he knows in July. There are 3 other arts I'm interested in and those are judo, hapkido, and traditional kung fu and there are plenty of shcools in my city that teach those but one of My main conerns is does it hinder your progress when you're learning more than 1 art or should it be seen as a challenge. I don't mind committing more than a few years since I play basketball and I'm a health nut.

You mentioned you are in college. Does taking math and science at the same time get in the way of your learning? Same thing in martial arts. You can learn more than one art at a time and if you choose the right arts, they can complement each other. Of the arts you listed I'd recommend you focus on boxing, judo and muay thai.

    Good luck with your training.
