Aaron let's not turn this into a pro / anti gun debate.

Shooting is a heck of a lot of fun. Guns are powerful machines. They are fun like other powerful machines ...motorcycles, ski boats, 4x4 trucks, and front-end loaders. You haven't lived until you've been handed the keys to a big Caterpiller front-end loader. (g)

But there is nothing cool about Killing.

If you want a pro/anti gun debate, and Tim will allow it, start another thread and I'll play.

just because we are into target shooting, doesn't mean we are into killing.

Well, these guys are right, but I AM into killing, if my family is at risk, and you won't understand that until you have a family and live in a violent area.

As far as killing for fun, no of course not, I don't even hunt animals I just target shoot. But if someone is a threat to my financee or two young daughters I'm going to put that mo*therfu*ker in a pine box.

I should say that I'm not putting down guys who hunt, I just saying that I don't like it all that much, I'm more of a fishing man myself. But hey I'm not a idiot I know that our meat comes from living things so I know that killing is a part of our existance, I just never really got into the whole hunting thing as much as a lot of my friends and relatives, that's all.

Duchman, you should try target shooting some time, I know they don't allow you to have guns but surely they let you go down to a range and squeeze a few, even if you can't take the weapon home with you (I would think they would have some ranges over there, wouldn't they?). Try it, you'll like it!

Great posts! Thanks for keeping it on topic. To say that somehow we enjoy killing simply because we enjoy shotting is (in the words of Mike Tyson)... "looodicrith!"

In a MA context that would be like someone saying we enjoyed breaking peoples arms. Noone WANTS to hurt someone, but we DO want to ensure the most effective way to defend ourselves or others, so that when our abilities are called on, we are as effective as possible.
