  • NEW: Gi Mastery - The Chokes iPhone App

One of the black belts(Marcos Torregrosa) from my school is releasing a BJJ app for the iPhone/iPod touch called "Gi Mastery - The Chokes".

I am told that the application will be free and will be available the the Apple iStore by next Saturday.

Here are a couple of the techniques for the iPhone application:

Good god man, what's next? Back in the day... You didn't teach just ANYONE the secrets of shime waza... That's all good stuff. I'll type it before I even look but I have a clue. I hope it's nice little old ladies loading these nasty apps and not joe (hard time) blow learning MY secrets...

Bastards! I hate "BJJ" Seriously, "what's next"???? You think this new "FREE" app was FREE?

Hey guys I just got word the the application is on the iStore and now available to download!!!

Just search for "Gi Subs" in the itunes store.

I just downloaded the app and some of the techniques are for more advanced BJJ practitioners. There is a choke from inside the guard which I have never seen before.

BTW..He has a no-gi instructional coming out on the iPhone/iPod touch next month.

How do these compare to the no-gi "Submissions" and "Guard Sweeps" applications also for the iPhone?

I actually have both "Submissions" and "Guard Sweeps" and the first difference is that those two are no-gi and Gi Subs 1 is for gi. No disrespect to
the Kesting and the other guy the techniques on Gi Subs 1 are really quite a bit more advanced. "Yemaso" is a world class level BJJ competitor with sick technique.

Thx. I guess it depends if you're into gi or no gi, and also how advanced you already are!

Hey. I personally have done very little grapples, but i think the videos your instructer and others who have helped made it have done a fantastic job.
The audio and video clarity is impeccable, and it was a great job at capturing the right angle of camera so we can see whats going on.

+ The fact that its currently free, i would be HAPPY to pay a small fee even if there were several instructional videos.

Even without an iphone or touch (lucky i have the phone ), a person being able to view these on youtube alone is great, but the portability to have on your phone and then practice with friends is great.

I haven't seen this on apple store, so if its up ill find it asap (i realise this thread is a little old but i can't help myself)

Great since trying to carry around a desktop computer or even a labtop can be cumbersome. Excellent way to show quick references if needed while practicing. You can even be in a ground position and grab the phone and look at the video.

I like bringing my iPod touch on to the mat when practicing techniques. We have a special class on Sundays where you can practice any techniques you want. It is very convenient having it on a mobile device.
