    Hi sccr06,

You are absolutely correct, and let me add about the Rosie O'Donnell and Barbara Striesand (and the rest of that hypocrate crowd). I absolutely pisses me off to no end when people like that (up in thier gated communities) try to pass judgement on me or you, when the fact that they refuse to live in outside gated communities speaks volumes about their hypocracy. The same goes for these wealthy Liberals who carry on about how bad school vouchers are, but sure enough (almost with out exception) they send their kids to private schools and probably would not even allow their kids to walk through many public schools let alone study there.

Oh well, just venting (sorry for going off topic).....

Good posts people, but understand it's very hard for me to imagine to that almost everybody owns a gun.
Whe already have a enough weapons that cause a lot of trouble, and it is getting worse
      More weapons in holland=More crime

More guns in Holland would = LESS crime.

Right now, only the criminals in Holland can carry guns.

To Mik-36 and most of you, I guess we are all kinda preaching to the choir...but for dutch and maybe other Europeans, I just can't understand the mindset.

How do you equate more guns with more crime? Crime is a result of criminals not equipment. To that more guns = more crime is a fallicy. A weapon cannot create crime, as others have already said. Only the criminal mind creates crime and that mind will create crime with or without firearms.

Now it is true that a lack of guns would mean FEWER armed criminals (not a lack of); but I am not willing to trade my right to defend myself for hope that I will be molested by the percentage of non-firearm eqipped crooks. That is like betting against yourself. I prefer to bet in favor of me! Caveat criminalis! (anyone know the latin for criminal? he he)

Speaking of guns, here is a late breaking story that will be fodder for the anti-gun lobby for the next several months.

Vermont has some of the (if not THE) most relaxed gun laws in the country. Not only can we carry a gun on us just about anywhere, but we can legally carry a concealed gun with us just about anywhere. I bought my last hand gun from a cop at the International Airport and walked out with it tucked into my belt.

Now go look at per capita crime rates and safety statistics, and you will find that Vermont is one of the safest places to live in the U.S.

sounds like if they just layed a cheeseburger out on their front lawn the kids would come running outta there...
if that doesn't work, then the answer is magnets. you get a big ass magnet like the ones in junkyards that lift cars and you put it up to the side of the house. then BLAMMO! all the guns are stuck to the wall.

                    NOTE TO SELF:

                    Don’t mug Masala in Vermont.

Wait till he goes on vacation…

WTF is with the Al Bundy cracks?
I’m presently suing Fox for using my life story without compensation.

                      John,
maybe so! but the crime will get more violently.
Out of reachers is proved that the crime in holland get more violently by the day.

guns are not allowed here but there are as easy to get as weed.
i could carry a gun, on the streets but what would it do? if i shoot a mugger i would get arrested for owning a gun and for shooting the guy.

Unless the laws change in holland owning a weapon will get more damage to youre self than to youre mugger.

my grandmother got assaulted at 81year of age, she used her walking cane, to hit the guy, the iron part of the stick hit the ***** in the face he ran away bleeding al over street.
My grandma got arrested and got a hearth attack in the police station. when she got out of the hospital, 2 weeks later she got a stroke and lived handicapt for a year before dying.
At 81 years she was still full of live owning 3 bars and managing everything her self!

Do you realize how totally perverted and sick that is?

In Texas your grandmother would have gotten her picture in the paper with the local sheriff and a good citizenship award from the local city council.

Self-defense is a basic human right.

Governments should not deprive people of their basic human rights. This incindent demonstrates that, if allowed, governments will do exactly that all the name of "protecting the safety and welfare" of it's "citizens" (slaves).

                        Another quote:

"Those who would trade liberty for safety deserve neither".

I think Ben Franklin said that but I'm not sure.

                          Exactly.

Right there you just stated the solution to this problem.

No one can change the laws in Holland but you.

Does Holland have an organization similar to the US's National Rifle Association (NRA) ?

                            Dutch,

John is right. You said it yourself, the laws in Holland are depriving you and your loved ones of their basic right to live without fear. Do you think that's right or just?

Now can you understand why we feel the way we do over here in CONUS? (Continental United States)

By the way, I can't believe how much I have posted just on this one topic. This has gotta be the most intelligent threads I've seen on this forum in a while. (not that I haven't gotten a chuckle out of some of the knuckle-head topics on here!)

I think i have to take back my words a littel bit about guns and the usa.
I had a "wrong" image about it, the only things where here about shooting's in the usa are the bad ones and most of the time how it could be prevented with a anti gun law.

But in holland the more the weapons the more violance.
but with a law change it will change.
The are nouberous event that happen here, when people defend there self and they get arested. "Acesive violence"
is what is is called in english i believe. you can defend youre self but you can't use to much force.

                              example:
My dad who worked at one of my grandma's bars caught a burgler when whe opend the place, he punched him in the face, they both got arrested, but the thief was relesed two days sooner, and my dad had to pay for the hospital costs

BTW, Almost all parts of holland have a low crime rate, but there are a few cities that are crime invested. I live in one of them. My point of saying that is don't be afraid to come to holland for vacation.

So let me get this straight duchman, you watched something on your dutch tv about America and guns, you figured this gave you all the knowledge you needed and you should come to the forum and enlighten us of our ways. And lo and behold you had the wrong idea all along and didn't know shit about what you were talking about? Who would have guessed!? I know I trust my news sources to not sensationalize anything, what the hell is going on over in Holland besides wearing wooden shoes?
