Does the University of Houston Judo Club have a site? I couldn't find the other sites either.

      web sites

i don't think the UH judo club has a site. there is a pabjj site, www.pabjj.com. i have not yet posted the entry form out there yet. i should have time this evening to do that. if you call the number, eric should be able to get the entry form as well...

        thanks,

I was going to post a link from it to the coogfans.com website. I guess I'll just cut-and-paste the information though.

other questions - How many people do you expect there? Is this the first invitational there? a link to the rules as to what's allowed and what isn't? How are the gi brackets set up, ie. weight, experience, etc...?

here is what i know so far...

two levels of experience: less than two years for beginners and advanced for anything else. we are going to try to run it like a wresting comp as far as organization but have the brackets posted on a wall and have score boards for the matchs so the fighters can see the score as they fight.

          Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Rules
          Gi Mandatory
          Takedown (2pts)
          Passing the Guard (3pts)
          Knee on the Stomach (2pts)
          Top mount (4 pts)
          Rear Mount (4 pts)
          Reversals and sweeps (2pts)
One warning for inactivity, then points awarded to opponent

Not allowed: Biting, eye gouging, finger twist, hair pulling, heel hooks, knee twisting, body slam from the guard, neck cranks
Submissions allowed: Arm-locks, chokes, straight ankle locks, straight knee bars, inside toe holds.
Bad sportsmanship will result in immediate disqualification

          No Gi Grappling Rules
Same as BJJ but all types of leg locks and neck cranks are allowed.

The form I saw last night had three divisions (beginning, intermediate and advanced). Has this changed? Also, is the fact that U of H is a pond right now going to affect the tournement?

              divisions

here is the link to the reg page:

i only see the beginners and advanced. eric spoke with todd last night and heard nothing that would indicate a problem for us...

                  come compete

go ahead, the cost is pretty reasonable and you will get at least two fights out of it.
