Ryu, if you don't know how to properly breakfall, you're going to hate every minute of judo until you do from constantly getting the wind knocked outta ya. Once you do learn, it's fun as hell tossing people around. In other words, if you don't know yet, learn it asap! Most BJJ schools don't seem to practice it that much at all, if ever. Don't worry about it tho- most judo good judo schools will drill you through breakfalling before they start using you for meat

Dude, your nuts will hate it too if you don't know how to breakfall. Hell, they'll hate it either way. You may have to go to the tighty whiteys to save 'em.

        That's a good one...

Tighty whities! LOL! I've never heard them called that before. Funny.

Ryu, breakfalling isn't difficult to learn. It's just that when you do so incorrectly, it really hurts. From mat headaches (head slams into the mat), nose bleeds (ALWAYS turn your head to the side when forward falling/face down!), to swollen and bruised ankles, knees, and elbows. It's all easily aviodable. No worries, though. If your partner was paying attention, the throws are designed to make (let) you land correctly.

I've heard nothing but great things about the Kodokan and the level of instruction there.

        Peace
