What to do if you fall into a conversation with someone about the terrorist attacks who doesn't believe in retaliation:

1. Engage in conversation, and ask if military force is appropriate.

2. When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"

3. Wait until he says something to the effect of - "Because that would just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not cause more violence."

4. When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face... HARD!

5. When he gets back up to punch you, point out that it would be a mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would be awful and he should not cause more violence.

6. Wait until he agrees, and has pledged not to commit additional violence.

7. Punch him in the face again, harder this time.

Repeat steps 5 through 7 until he understands that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.

I get sick about the idealists out there that are against the war, against guns against people's civil liberties and such.
Sure, there is way too much violence out there, from drive bys to hold ups and murder. You aren't going to solve it by abolishing the death penalty, making guns tougher to get to law abiding citizens and so on.
Many people preach about such nonsense until they or a loved one gets murdered, raped or robbed. I doubt that these ignorant people will get back up on a soap box to preach nonsense after they get touched with reality of how ugly the world is out there. Yet, we as Americans have some of the most liberties of any country in the world.

well, sorry to rant and rave but many of these people are just victims waiting for the crime to happen.
But I believe that most of us here, train martial arts to be proactive, to be the ones that will defend ourselves and our loved ones in a confrontation.
We shall not be victims and instead use our skill and knowledge to stand up to those that think they can exert some unlawful control over you.

I support air strikes on military targets but attacking Bin Laden and his followers financially will be more effective.

Why does Bin Laden uses his fortune to finance death and destruction rather than feed the starving people of Afghanistan?

Uh, I think that's a kind of obtuse post. The salient issue isn't so much whether there should be a strike back (there should!). It's who's going to be on the receiving end. Dropping bombs over innocent non-military villages and then dropping some peanut butter doesn't really address the problem. In the Gulf War and Vietnam alot of carpet bombing went on and alot of innocent folk were hurt or killed. Revenge against those who are responsible is necessary. Bombing the hell out of everyone else in the country is not. The enemy is a particular group of political militants. Most everyone else in the country just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Similarly, if Cuba and Iraq want to get revenge over the American sanctions that have killed millions of their people, they shouldn't attack innocent Americans.
