  • training when you are ill?

    Hello all,

What do think about training when you are ill? I ask because I have a cold at the moment and I really want to train.

    Thanks

Spenna, you probably capable of training, but think about the person you're rolling with. Would you want to grapple with someone has a runny nose and coughing? I sure as heck wouldn't.

I believe that if you go train and you're sick, you are being selfish that you may infect your fellow students and team mates to an illness that they didn't have to get.

I also think it's being a bit stupid that you go and train when you aren't 100%.
I am no doctor but I remember being told that you will weaken your immune system by exerting yourself and should rest until you are better.

      just my opinion on illnesses.
I remember one time I was training with one guy and after about 20 minutes of doing drills, he tells me that he doesn't feel well and well, wouldn't you know it, I got sick with the flu a few days later and had to stop training and stay home for a while. Now if this guy were to have stayed home, this illness wouldn't have nailed me. Was I pissed ? yup.
      Stupid, stupid people out there.

There is one simple rule to remember:

-Pain from the neck and up, a reduced amount of training should be no problem.

-Pain or problems below the neck, like deep lung cough or pain in the kidneys or chest, STAY HOME!

Even training with a simple cold is very hard on the heart, and you can get a deadly heart infection from training hard when your ill. But you will probably know your limits.

          Take Care
