  • Violence?

"Violence never solved anything." Says who? If that's true why do police have guns? Police officers use violence all the time to solve the problem of murderers on killing sprees. Similarly, Congress has just allowed pilots to carry guns, because that might help solve the problem of hijackers in the future.
It's funny: people who like to say "violence never solves anything" also tend to support "peacekeeping" missions to fix problems all over the world. Well, if you look at the pictures of peacekeepers in the newspaper, they're always carrying guns and sometimes even riding tanks. If violence doesn't solve anything, you'd think they be carrying baguettes.
If violence doesn't solve anything, then why are you studying a means to utilize controlled violence?

Violence is sometimes necessary and whilst it is not always the best option, it's obviously erroneous, for the reasons you have mentioned, to say that it "never solved anything."

I would prefer to solve all problems without violence. I don't like getting hit nor do I like hurting other people. I have only had a few fights in my life, all started by other people. I have never lost a fight. But, then again, I didn't win either.

That's why I am studying to become a certified mediator.

Whoever said violence never solves anything isn't trying hard enough. On the other hand, whoever uses violence to solve everything is trying too hard. Just a matter of using the proper amount. Although there are cases when you simply have to obliterate you enemy just to get the point across.

Violence usually begets more violence, but unfortunately in this world we live in, violence in sometimes necessary to neutralize a threat. After the threat is neautralized and violence continues, then you have a problem.

Different situations require different problem solving tactics.
Violence may indeed be the only way sometimes, but that is rare I believe. *shrugs*

The saddest thing is the mainspread thinking on how all human beings must be liberated frpm violence in order to live a violence-free life.

              How sad.

All the human race is permeated with violence, it's a distinctive trait of the humans. That's nothing we can do to remove it. It's our karma, we are destined invariably to self destruction.

To ignore this simple fact is hiding a blatant and very visible truth.

The saddest thing is that we are liberated by violence anly AFTER we experience it in the most terrible form.

It's the monument ericted to our stupidity.

We must realize that all things are in a balance

We all agree that we cannot have

                Heat without cold.
                Light without dark.
                Life without death.
Love without big-boobied, long haired blonde bikini models... (but I digress )

How do we expect to have peace without violence?

                  You know the following saying...

"Those who long for peace must prepare for war."

Also, not using violence to stop an aggressor who will not reason, does not want peace and would just as soon kill you is an open invitation for more violence to be used against you!

                  Regards,
