Alright, This doesn't have anything to do with MMA or BJJ, but I'm really pissed off about so throw me a bone. Anyway, I'm a 19 year old college student, with NO tickets and NO accidents. I drive a modest truck (97 mazda 2x4 no cd or rims). My insurance is $2500 a YEAR !!! It seems stupid to me that discrimination at job hirings/public places is illegal, but it's perfectly fine for insurance companies to anally gouge me because of my GENDER and AGE.

Well, statistically speaking blah blah, blah blah blah....

I feel your pain my brother. It's a load of crap. Insurance rates, as well as jobs and other opportunities should never be based on something you cannot control.

I do not, never have, and never will dislike or discredit someone for race, height, eye color, hair color, age, gender, national origin, who your parents were etc, etc. If it is something you cannot change, then I will not consider that a factor as to who you are.

Everyone is always saying how it is wrong to judge people by these qualities, but age is another "quality" by which we are constantly judged. The criteria for this is one of the most hypocritical situations I've ever seen.

You're not 25 Jared, so you must be a high risk driver. End of story....

that's not right. you need to do some more checking around. i was paying less than that when i was 19, with a few tickets to boot AND driving a sports car. well, not much less, but with no tickets and an old car that's more than double what you should be paying. look in the phone book and call every single insurance agency you can for a quote, especially the ones with the smallest ads. it takes some time and effort, but i saved hundreds of dollars that way because all you need is that one agency out there that is willing to give you a good rate to win your business over from the big companies.
and tell them you live at home and take the bus to school--that may save you a few bucks. they don't check up on things like that.
      how much is your deductible?

Insurance rates vary greatly from county to county, state to state. You can always find out if insurance is cheaper outside of King county (if that's where you live) and maybe get a PO box in another county.

Agreed The insurance industry is a racket BUT part of what got the rates so jacked was all the scammers crying whiplash amnd others allowing them to.. The industry should have lobbied for reform way back when that sh!t started .
17 years old males get ripped the worst. What annoys me is that these chicks will get away with stopping short in fast traffic , yapping on their phones CAUSING many accidents that technically are the other persons fault And why not the old geezer retesting and their rates???!!! Ive seen old people hit parked cars, run lights and cause MAJOR accidents yet they continue to pay the least . WHY? Because they have a big Lobby.

            just shop around.

what, you don't want to tell us what company quoted you that rate?

i have insurance through Mercury that costs me $600/year for FULL coverage. then AAA comes along and sends me a letter saying that they'll only charge me $1560/year. hahahahahaha... TOOLS!!!!!

            moral... SHOP AROUND!!!
