Until you get legitamate instruction, you're just a MMA poser.
    THANKYOU!!!!!!!

You were saying what a lot of people where thinking.

      whappens to me?

hello, my name is Sean, i'm 24 ..and i live in Ohio...is it to late for me to learn how to controle myself, everyone i talk to says "go to the doctor, they'll put you on meds, and you'll feel better"...theres got to be a better way then that!

i started thinking maybe Martial Arts is a better way, not so much for fighting, but for the controle, and dssaplen (maybe i could learn to spell wile i'm at it) is it like in the movies, or is that just hollywood?, can people really sit down, and reach inside themselves deeply, and do all the stuff with medatation that i keep seeing on TV.

i'm not trying to compare move arts with the real thing, i just havent got anything else to compare it to, i've never been to a real school, i mean i want to kick ass like the next guy , sure, but i really really want to know how to get my mind body and spirt working together...i think i could do anything ..i'm strong ..but not flexable, smart but not book smart..i'm 6 foot 3 inches tall and 230 lbs, i cant do a pull up , and only 5 push ups...but for some reason, i can reach down and pick up the back of a small car if i felt like it,i could pick a guy my size up , off the ground, but i cant do a single pull up...whats the deal?

Sounds like your a strong man.

Stongman competitions are solid. My favorite comps are the telephone pole throw and the tractor pull. These guys have enough applied strength for a couple of people.

        Sean, you've got talent.

PS - I can lift a guy your size too for about 30 reps...

but I look like Tatoo from Fantasy Island ...jj

Have you done a lot of weight training? If you've done a lot of weight training and no training in bodyweight exercises they'll be surprisingly tough.

If you can only do one pull-up, and 5 pushups you're not that strong. You might be able to pick someone up your own size by using you leg muscles or something. You are a big guy though, so you have the ability to get pretty solid. I don't know what you do with your spare time. You said you had emotional problems. I think that setting up and trying to accomplish any worthwile goal would help you out a lot. For you, joining martial arts might be great, and you dont have to worry about whether they are going to teach you meditation techniques or whatnot. Just the fact that you go every day, and keep working on improving yourself will help.

There was once this article that I read, wich I could find it, but I can sum it up. Sorry if you think this is stupid.

A student went up to his teacher and said "Teacher I have this horrible aggression problem, I cant control myself. Can you teach me how to control my anger?"

The teacher said "well, lets see this anger, go ahead, I want to see what you mean."

At this the student said "I cant show you now, I'm not mad. It just happens sometimes."

The teacher told him that he was not naturally an aggressive person then, otherwise he would be like that all the time. Naturally he was a nice controlled person that sometimes got angry. All he had to do was work on being himself.

Dude, Martial Arts are not some magic pill that'll make someone's faults and shortcomings go away.

Go to the Doctor and always remember to take your meds.
Go to or back to a real school.
It also might be a good idea to refrain from petting rabbits and car bumpers.

Ever see the propalene diet pill commercial at 3am ?

I'm concerned some people might flock to their pharmacist and demand 'propalene' Their pharmacist will think they are nuts.

Sean, you're allready a big guy. Have you considered power lifting? That takes discipline and a great deal of concentration.

Other things you might consider: meditation, taiji or something internal.

                  Good luck!

When everything else fails you can always put a bullet through your brain...

Sorry dude but maybe a reality check will help you out, A friend of mine just did himself that way a couple weeks ago... Those meds might be worse than no (low) self esteem. Sure you're all good to go untill you stop taking them and the sad reality of life hits you in the guy. Brain chemestry is nothing to mess with. Go climb a rock!

Fresh air and some adrenalin is all you need! Seriously.

Sean, martial art could be very good for you, but judging by the questions that you are asking, I would suggest that you see a psychologist first. If you don't like what the first one has to say, then see another and another. If you want to avoid drugs, there are certainly alternatives, but please don't rule anthing out. By the way, there are a lot of herbal supliments that have shown to significant help in dealing with many problems. Don't be afraid to ask a professional about this. I'm not suggesting that you have any serious problems, but it can't hurt to be talk to someone. If, after you have consulted a psychologist or five (sometimes you have to really look to find the one for you) , look back into martial arts. I got into martial arts six years ago to help deal with stress and now it's a lifestyle. And no, it isn't too late for you to lean self control and it certaily isn't too late to study martial arts.
