    What kind of contest?

MMA? In that case, I'd probably go with shootfighting.

Street fight? Muay Thai or kempo.

i found that its not only the martial art, but the amount of experience in tense and stressfull situations. if you were to pick ONE martial art, pick the one that will engage you most in varied (sp?) situations. so, i'd go with Dux Ryu Ninjitsu (look it up in google, its pretty kewl).

I was wondering how long it would be before we heard anymore about ol' Frankie Dux! I guess bringing him up is on a 4-5 monthly cycle huh?

            Sccze LOL. @ Internal toehold

The question is too vague- I have experience in Boxing- Judo -BJJ & wrestling. Am I fighting Tyson or Gracie ? If i am fighting Tyson Ill go BJJ , as my boxing would be useless. If Im fighting Gracie Ill go with boxing and the lucky K.O. before he mangles me, as the reverse applies.

JKD covers everything and since most people start MA's to learn how to fight it's too bad there isn't more JKD schools which are all about fighting!

Hmmm. I think I would go with a martial art from South America called Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It's a great system that favors technique and leverage over brute strength. Like, a decade ago, this guy named Royce Gracie entered a martial arts tournament using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and won against people using all different kinds of martial arts (kung fu, karate, wrestling, shootfighting). You guys should check this jiu-jitsu thing out, it's gunna be reeeeal popular.

Heh, I would use my technique that I have been using for 4 years now. It's some sort of a JKD and Muay Thai mix.

What you really need for a contest is only speed and defense... nothing else. If you could block a few hits and use Chain Snake Skin there is no way anybody gonna win accept u.... Since Chain Snake Skin is virtually unblockable, it's just a matter of time, speed, before u'r opponent cries mercy.

Now u might say, "That's dirty... why use a move that has no escape when u can have an honorable fight?" If this was a Street Fight situation, I would fully agree with u... but it's a goddamn contest! You want the fame and the money along with the title belt thingy don't u? Oh, also, Boxing just ain't gonna cut it. I heard lots of people choose boxing in this post. No way man, u'll be gone the first few fight. Muay Thai would prolly be best choice.

Ok, I also heard something about a ninjitsu and how they can take out a person with 1 touch or something. Ok, this proves u have no history of Ninjitsu what-so-ever. People that go into contests with Ninjitsu often end up dead in the first few rounds. Why I say that? u might ask, well, let me give some history lesseons here.

Ninjitsu was the art of the Ninja. Most people confuse the Ninja's job in this age. The Ninja was a stealth unit in early history used to kill enemy Leaders. They were very skilled with weapons and knew how to get out of tight situations. The thing was, Ninja's would NOT fight! Ninjitsu, in original, was not a method to fight at all! It was a way the Ninja could kill his opponent as fast as possible. This included weapon use and lots of running away. The only time when Ninja got into a fist fight because he had no choice was the time Ninja fought, and the Ninja fought dirty! They would hit their opponents on the weakest parts of their bodies, and if the attack didn't hit they would run away to tire the other person before they re-tried the hit. All this bullshit u see in the movies about Ninja's fighting in perfect Martial Arts styles is total movie effects. This scenes are to entertain people and create action into the movie... if they really made a movie of the real Ninja missions it would be boring. This is because the Ninja were counted for their speed and would kill their target and get out of that place before you could even realize something fishy was going on.

So anyway, my point is, Ninjitsu (even though in this age it has been upgraded a bit and has some deadly moves) is not worth trying in a tournament. Go head and watch some of the UFC... the people that use Ninjitsu don't last more then the first round (which they still lose in it.) Although I've seen some other fight that Ninja's did pretty good, they always end up with flaws that are easly catchable by most Martial Arts techniques. Unless you can move very, very, very fast... Ninjitsu just ain't gonna do. ( No matter what kind of branch of Ninjitsu u will use)
