          philadelphia jiu jitsu association

          what up guys-

i train with Damon at 2222 Cherry. definitely no contracts, no packages, etc. it's $100 for the first month and $50/mth thereafter for unlimited classes (he actually encourages you to go as much as you can). $10 open mat. M-W-F 6-8ish, Sundays 4:30-6ish. we also share the space with a muay thai school.

we're more of a training club than a formal school. in fact, damon encourages you to visit other schools, get videos, go to seminars, etc., and bring back the knowledge to share with everyone. however, if you just want to come in and wrestle once a week, that's cool too.

come by sometime or e-mail me if you have questions. you can also e-mail damon - philadelphia.jiujitsu@verizon.net

So are there any groups in this general area (NJ/PA) where guys just get together and train, maybe just paying for the mat time? I'm hoping to go to Ricardo Almeida's class once a week, but would love to train mixed grappling/BJJ/judo at least another time per week...........

                  hey phillyman

we used to do arnis/kali stuff last year, but haven't done any recently; there isn't enough interest. damon would usually lead these sessions. i don't know who he learned it from, though.

check out sayoc.com for philly based filipino ma's

                      ya-hey!

late summer im taking up karate in the young tiger martial arts dojo, up in EP (which is kewl since my girl lives not to far. that means an ass kickin and an ass kissin in the same day ), an' for right now i go (FREE) to rizzo PAL wrestiling practice (people there are kinda young, but wrestiling is a pretty rich source, and close to BJJ, IMHO). i usda take sambo at a fight club up at oxford circle, and some JJ there to. very low price too. also, to add one more thing, im going to start in a fight club up at bridesburg soon with some UFC trainers and sambo guys. that free too

now who said cheap aint sweet?

What's EP? That Rizzo PAL is for kids and high schoolers, right? And what about those fight clubs in Oxford and/or Bridesburg? That's the kinda stuff I'm interested in..............How can I get contact info?

around Oxford circle there is a fight club... you know oxford AV right? yeah, where it goes in a circle... thats where you'll find it. i haven't been there in awhile, but im pretty sure its still there.
EP- elkins park. its northeast of the city, just outside of (debatable to say its inside of it). the young tiger martial arts is one of the best karate dojos you can find, and doesn't charge much for 4 practices a week ($65 a month). its held at st john baptist church. i dont know the times right now, but if it sounds good i can find out for ya.
and in bridesburg, a few of my friends started a pretty primal fight club, with moregrappling then strikking. you might wanna live around there to participate.

and PAL... thats where i've wrestled for 6 years. its basicly 5-14, but (since im 16) you get some HS kids down there that used to go, and its always great to freshen up on your technique with the coaches. later tonight im gonna drop by and wrestile my old friend rocco, who is a varsity wrestiler for abington HS. we're gonna see who's better
