  • want to compete

I want to start competing(and get to a high level)but I live in New Hampshire. I want to move to a good school(bjj) but I don't know any except the Gracie Acadamy. If you know any please help me out. Any muay thai or vale tudo schools will be welcome too.(I don't want to move to Brazil though)

Also I was wondering if I should attend a "bad" school until I move to get the basics or if it would hinder me in the future. I have no formal bjj training but me and my friend have been studying mma competitions for a few years and are going to buy instructional tapes. We are ok but have never fought anyone with "real" training so I don't really know where I stand with trained bjj practitioners.

Any help is appreciated, I need to start training.

      Dude,

One of our current brown belt instructors started training in NH under a blackbelt that used to be part of the Carlson Gracie Sr. Team. I dont remember the guy's name, but I think that he is very good. I think he is in his early 40s and won several national level BJJ tournaments in his time.

I think the guy teaches in Manchester, NH. Does that sound right? ANyway, search the various Gracie links on the internet and you should be able to find where he teaches.

Bottom line, this NH BJJ BB is very good, and hopefully he lives close to you.

There are also some good BBs in Boston, I hear.

      Goood Luck
