  • The One

I'm new to the NHB world. Which means I don't know much but my opinions are fresh. I really respect this sport. Yet I see a glaring weakness that is preventing it from gaining a proper position in the sports world, particulary in America. Certainly politics are an adverse isssue, but that can be overcome, mainly by money. If the sport generates big money the oppostion will soften. The same people hate boxing, but the millions keep them at bay. To make big money in America NHB must do two things in my opinion.

    1. Yes ground fighting beats kung fu styles, however kung-fu is exciting and has drawing power, especially in a raw unrestricted form. To capitlize do not match grapplers with kung-fu guys. Put two of them (kunf-fu artist) together and let the crowd be entertained. As it stands now no kung-fu master is going to enter NHB events and have his reputation destroyed. Remember these guys have huge following. NHB is just a section in their magazines.

    2. NHB must produce The One. Americans like a face on everything. NHB must produce a star and heavily market him. The One doesn't have to be unbeatable, but should be at his best in big fights, have a versatile/exciting fighting style, and be charismatic. Once you build the one then you build his competition
The One is going to have to be able to speak English, which is the world's number 1 marketing language. The one is somehow going to have to be effective without appearing violent.

    3. Once you have a proper balanced and interesting card and the One, go see the master of real sports pay per view. Don KIng.

That sounded really intelligent Roy. You came across like a total dickhead. I seem to remember you complaining about certian people on this forum doing the same thing to you a while back when you would post your ideas. Nice to see you learned from it.
Ramaaiki, you ideas arn't all bad. I wouldn't mind seeing two stand up dudes going off on each other. It's not NHB but still entertaining.

          ramaaiki,

You're going to have to just ignore Roy like most of us have been doing; he doesn't speak for any of us. As for your points, let me adress them.

          1. It has been tried before, in the early UFC's strikers were sometimes pitted against each other; In fact there was a Kung Fu
vs. Kung Fu fight in UFC 2. Unfortunatly with the nature of fighting, even with 2 strikers all of the fights went to the ground; and looked really bad.

          2. That is a good idea, but whom??? Tito or Vitor come to mind, Maybe Rico Rodriguez

          3. I agree

I really agree with the point that MMA needs to get into the politican's pocketbooks. Money is the only thing that motivates this nation's government. In my home state of Washington, NHB combat is illegal and we have to go down to the local indian reservations to hold competitions. While there aren't any politicans whose main platform is anti-NHB, how many would be opposed if they got a couple hundred bucks in campaign contributions? Yup. I think the UFC should keep winning the battle state-by-state until MMA is accepted as legitimate sport by the general public.

wanna see some great strikers fight each other???

                I think thats why there's K-1...

I think the NHB standard of stand up sucks..... it has improved a LITTLE since the beginning.....but its still poor..

would love to see some guy who kicks all pretty do well in NHB....imagine that! K.O in the UFC by flying/spinning round house.... sweet....hehehe Van Damme style

In two ufc's ago when Caol Uno fought B. J. Penn, Uno tried to do a running flying kick of some sort at the very start of the match. but kind of missed. lol B.J. knocked him out in 11 seconds. I think thats why you don't see many of those kinds of moves too much anymore in nhb fighting. It would be great to see but its definitely risky and it makes it much more exciting to watch.
