do you ever get the feeling that some bjj people are developing the old 'tae kwon do' mentality. I was talking to a couple of students at my school and telling them about my old muay thai matches. Some were very interested, others had the 'i'd just go to the ground and submit'. Even when i told them that about 2-3 thai kicks will make their ability to shoot almost null, they proceeded to just give the 'ground and submit' answer.
It reminded me of talking to TKD ppl and they saying 'ill just take out the knee if he tries to take me to the ground'.
For me, i think the Sak vs Royce fight proved to me importance of being a great fighter. Sak and Royce were about equal on the ground, yet Sak handed Royce his ass during stand up fighting

I am sure they have a name for that syndrome. The Gracie system is awesome, and the Gracies are awesome fighters.

The Gracies are always looking to improve themselves and their system of training. Once you start believing that you have nothing left to learn, or that you don't need to look outside your comfort zone for knowledge is about the time when the shit will hit the fan and you will get your rude awakening.

You cannot convince someone who is unwilling to listen. Be patient, someday they will see what you mean, and maybe, just maybe, you'll be the one to show them.

And when you do, I want to hear the story.
