Hey guys, im new the board. I'm going into my junior year at high school and currently wrestle in high school and go to a wrestling club. I took Tang Soo do for about 3 years when i was young but quit because it was boring and could not relatre real life situations to it. I'm starting BJJ on monday. Do you guys think this is a good choice for me? thanks , Jared

I work out every chance I get with a friend of mine thats been into wrestling for a long time. he's a very good wrestler, but has no submission skills. I have quite a bit of trouble getting him down, but i've managed to tap him many times.
You may dominate some inexperienced people but the more experienced people should be able to tap you.
Wrestling goes pretty good with BJJ.

you should train as much as you physically can. I can train sometimes 3 days a week but if I go really hard in class, I get exhausted and don't get as much out of it. Also, my classes only cost 50 dollars a month, so it's very affordable. Some places charge different prices depending on how much you want to train.

BJJ and Wrestling go very well together. BJJ has some great takedowns and submissions and wrestling will make you a force on the groung. As for you beating BJJ guys with your wrestling skills Id say probably not but hey you may have natural tallent.

One thing I have noticed about wrestlers in BJJ is that they have tremendous endurance and strength. They usually get me in scarfhold or sidemount, and though they usually can't submit me, it's harder than hell to get them off their base.

Jared I'm going to give you some advice that will save you alot of pain.
Remember, when you're in the guard, either have both arms in or both arms out!
Also, wrestlers tend to give up their arms and necks very easily when they first try BJJ (especially when they do the classic greco-roman take downs). Can you say GUILLOTINE?
