Emin Boztepe is a joke

WTF? Two threads, one here and one on a German forum, about 'marvelouse' Boztepe who's undefeated in 200 'streetfights'. Whatever that means.

I'm not sure if he's a joke or not. Not a MMA guy for sure but could be damn good at Wing Chun/Tsun or like you said, whatever it's called. I've worked out with other classical Wing Chun guys that had the same attitude about the ground game. Their defense was just a palm to the head of the guy going for the takedown. Pretty weak IMO but I love the hands of Wing Chun, I think it's a great art from the waist up. It also flows well with Silat which it what I'm studying now. Sadly, every art has a weak link and I'm sure there's something good you can get from every art. Again, IMO.

I have studied Wing Tsun for about 20 years in Belfast. I have worked the door throughout the world including Belfast, Hong Kong and throughout Australia.

I think the majority of martial artists today lack the live experience to comment on street fights or other martial arts. Infact, every art has its advantages and disadvantages.

It is also devastating how ignorant some people are in respect to Chinese culture by which the Arts of Wing Chun, Wing Tsun and Ving Tsun (and others) are governed.

So instead of wasting valuable energy critizing and insulting others perhaps you would be better advised to aim to illiminate your own faults rather than pointing out other peoples.

I would like to make one point though. I have seen the fight between Boztope and Chun. It is interesting to hear the criticisms of the fighting style. The majority of fights that I have seen (transcending global location) look very similar. Street fights arent tidy combat displays, they are messy and brutal. Anyone who does not understand this is not qualified to comment.

I have no idea why these types of politics still exist in forums. But let me tell you - I am pissed off with them. Sifu Emin is one of the finest fighters in the world. This is unquestionable. The first Wing Chun seminar I attended (and learned many useful things from it) was the one from a student of master William Cheung - Sifu Jore Kostovski. In short, I have studied both lineages to some extend (TWC and LT) and have friends from both. Why not try to learn something useful but countinue to bash sifus?

I personally attended many stages of Sifu Emin Boztepe, as I've been a practician of EBMAS.
As a first thing, let me say that if you talk about Wing Chun you're not talking about sport.
Wing Chun is a traditional martial art, that's not been adapted for "shows" or public championships.
The same EBMAS has not an internal championship.

We only learn to protect ourselves, as the last possible way to survive.
We don't fight if there's no danger, but we know that in case of danger we must attack until the end of the fight: no more than 20 seconds, you understand what I mean?

I'm nobody master, but don't take offence if I suggest you to read something from "the art of war", by Sun Tzu.

However, don't expect that Sifu Emin comes and play with you in some regular match. He's not a showman, he's a Kung Fu Master, has nothing to demostrate.

If you really want to try, please go to some stage of Sifu Emin, introduce yourself and say (or do) everything you prefer.

I am not a follower of Boztepe. I don't think Wing Chun is up to much neither.

But William Cheung did not have his back turned. Boztepe showed Cheung one of the many articles where Cheung had boasted that he was the ONLY person to have been taught real WC, and that he could beat any challenger from any art to prove it.

Boztepe showed him the article (and there is photographic proof somewhere, I saw it in the magaizines of the day - I am that old....), asked him whether or not he meant it, and then set about kicking the shit out of him. Badly thogh. Like I said, WC is cack.

At the time Cheungy merely claimed that his slippery Kung Fu slippers were the cause of his downfall. It is only in the last few years that new and creative bull shit excuses were dreamt up, including:-

- Boztepe had armed helpers who forced Cheung to lose on purpose
- Boztepe jumped on his back without warning
- Cheung actually "won" the encounter.

All these are, of course, a heap of shite.

I am no fan of Boztepe. But he made Cheung eat shit that day, and the boastful Cheung fukkin deserved it.

im not saying this because i am a practioner of gm cheungs wing chun but i have been told he was holding a seminar at the time boztepe challenged him......... just a thought

Garland, whether you're training or not I would honest to god put my money on you against Boztepe . . . you, at least, have trained with good people who know what the hell they're doing.

I'm flattered man...but even back when I was in excellent shape...you shouldn't confuse what I had at that time (the guidance of some of the best trainers available to anyone, anywhere...as well as some top-notch stable mates and sparring partners.) for skill. It was just the sum of the people around me pressing me on... and good drills, technique, and brilliant trainers and pals.

Now...I'm out of shape, my technique is probably rusty as hell...and I'm getting old.

guys like emin are just businessmen trying to make money. lots of guys do it, nothing wrong with it. i've never bought his products but he's been advertising for so many years that someone must be buying, and he must be making decent money. martial arts is a good place to do this, so many people want to learn 'secrets' and live out their fantasies.
i wish i could make money of the stupidity of other people the way boztepe has been all these years, he's smart to have sold so well and avoided fighting. kind of like matt furey.

What would confirm Emin being a joke faster? Debating endlessly about some clip on the internet or going to the man himself and slap him in the face? I can almost hear the excuses now...

Emin has made open challenges in the past and failed to follow through when confronted. His claim to being the greatest fighter alive while insulting MMA as a sport, and the fighters that the sport produces, has gotten him into hot water on multiple occasions.

Bas Rutten, Remco Pardoel (UFC 2), and Renzo Gracie have accepted Boztepe's challenge only to have Boztepe tuck and run. Ruttens answer to Boztepe's challenge was to Boztepe's face. Boztepe claimed that there had been "a misunderstanding" and wanted to have coffee with Rutten to "work it out."

Quite honestly, the guy is a bully and a coward (as all bullies are). When he is faced with a person that might be a threat he suddenly turns apologetic, even diplomatic before falling victim to his mangina and running off like a little girl.
