I just wanted to know if BJJ was all that hard to learn and if it would help the practioner in judo. I want to be a well rounded grappler. I'm doing judo because of the throws. But is BJJ all it's said to be? To those who have done bjj how was your experience in learning techniques and doing ground work for the majority of the time?

I do not currently train in BJJ. But I have picked up many of the techniques from working with others and from The Master Text which is an excellent resource.
BJJ will provide another dimension to your grappling in Judo competition. In my opinion, it would be very complementary to your training.

Yeah, and this is what I remember of Schizo's review of the Master Text.....
"It had pretty coloured pictures...."
"The paper was nice and papery........."
"It had a front, a back and a middle, like all the best books...."
"You could read it when on the toilet, whether or not you really had to go, it really is that versatile........"
"It could make a handy gift....."
"It was shaped a bit like a rectangle. You know, like a square, but not. Not circular, unlike an orange......"
Yep! The literary genius sure did us proud on that one! Haw haw haw!

it depends on how quick you are to pick it up and how good your instructor is but by and large where i train the guys who have trained for 10 months 3 times a week 2 hours will tap out the vast majority of beginners some will need 1 year of training. after that i find that additional training will shorten the time it takes for you to tap out your opponents
