my take on the "street fighter"

The only reason I think the untrained or non martial artist has any kind of advantage in a fight would be perhaps he has done this before. Ive always thought that JKD at its heart was two things 1) tool development i.e. making your kicks and punches better and 2) learning what works for you. This applies to the "street fighter" because if he actually has fought/mugged/been invloved in a riot than maybe he knows that he has a good solid punch or that if he hits you in the back of the head with a brick you will probably give him your wallet. I think the biggest thing to fear from a street altercation is your lack of knowledge on the other guy, maybe he saw you hitting on his girlfriend, maybe he wants your wallet, maybe he is a practioner of nijitsu or he is JKD_Silat and he is tired of crazyjoe making fun of him (ha ha).
I guess what im trying to get across is that I feel the street fighter may have one ore two polished moves that he knows will work, do you? And who knows what his motivation is? Who knows if hes got HIV (it alarms me whenever I read Paul Vunak advocating biting someone). Thanks for reading all of this.

      Thanks,

      Mike

I think I would like to make a point on this issue. But I want to start another thread, as the title will get attention - "Why Martial Artists Can't Fight".

        See you there.
