Are you talking about the dude in the black shirt and ball cap? His right hand? I don't see a knife and I can't play it frame by frame to be sure either way.

It does look like a knife when his hand is dark (against the background of his buddy) but not when his hand is in the light.

That skater dude is Mike Vallely...he's a proffesional skateboarder.
He is one CRAZY MOFO... its no surprise to me that he would take on 4 guys... some of the shit he's attempted to do on a skateboard WITHOUT PROTECTION... is way worse than fighting with those four guys...I've seen him slam over and over REALLY badly and he keeps gettin up and trying again...

He's a crazy guy and believe it or not "crazy guys" are very good in street fights...

Yeah, I agree, Bau13. The samurai knew this. They went into a fight believing they were already dead (metaphorically). This gave them the mindset that they had nothing to lose, so they commited everything as though killing the enemy was the only thing that matter, even more than their own survival. When you do things that way, you've tapped into an overpowering supply of will and grit.

I know more than one person who lives life like that, fighting or not. Most of them are involved in extreme sports or high-risk occupations. Funny, that . . .

Still, taking one's shirt off has some practical value after it is off. But it shows poor tactical skill, because it leaves one too vulnerable.

Most folks do that just to show they are serious, even though it has some small benefit.

If you look before that that frame Shredder, he has his hands sticking out and it appears he doesn't have a knife there. At first i thought he left the fight to get a knife, but it doesn't look like he has one..
