  • Escaping from Knee on Stomach

Any pointers for escaping from knee on stomach when you have a big guy (aka >280 lbs. blue belt) using a lot of downward pressure and pulling/controlling both belt and sleeve? Last night I couldn't get out and I couldn't breathe either. What a lousy way to spend an hour.

    ESCAPE FROM KNEE ON STOMACH

I use a few different ways. All are based on getting your hip out. To me, it's not a very stable position, especially if theguy us trying to strike you. He leaves MUCH space where you can even sneak a leg in and throw him back into an ankle lock. Also, if he attempts to spin to the other side of you he has absolutlely ZERO control over your legs and heis a sitting duck for a head scissor attempt. Whether you naiil it or not you should be out of there.

Another way is to clinch him if he's tight and grapevine his leg nearest your leg. Raise it up as you slide out.

Well, he passed the guard and got to side control. (I made him work for it, but he finally got it.) Then, when he went to knee on stomach he had a more upright posture. He wasn't hitting. He was just mashing my solar plexus with his knees and controlling me with hands. His posture was pretty good too, so I couldn't pull him over. He took his right hand and grabbed my belt while he grabbed my left arm with his left hand. He basically did an upright row with my body while dropping all his weight into my solar plexus--which sucks.

I was trying to push off his knee and shrimp off to my right side and create some space to engage my legs. But I couldn't get it.

When I brought my left leg up to try to get a leg over he just switched positions to punish me with his left knee instead of his right for a while.

Anyway, I couldn't solve it. Oh well, at least I didn't barf on the mat. (Felt like it though after a while.)

Try not to get him there.. ^^^

you can say.. i dont wanna get punched in the face and get knocked out.. in muay thai right? so .. dont let him.. block that punch..

same thing.. u just gotta practice..
it's good to practice with him cause he's better then you and if you get used to him you wont notice you went up in skill level till you fight someone not better then you and you drop the knee on his stomach and on and on and on.. lol

Turn towards him and push his knee off with your top hand and slide your hips out at the same time.Basically post the hand on his knee and use your feet to bump, then pivot your hips out from under him.The most important part of most every escape is making space so you can move.So the bump to get space under you is very important.
