    Ninjagod,

I'm not going to get in a gang fight in Sanbornton,NH, I was referring to burglars and criminals of that nature. I may not have time to run in my house to stop a drive by but I could pull one out of my drawer when I wake up at 3 A.M. to a masked man rummaging through my grandmothers jewelry box.
As for guns not being around anymore that is not going to happen for a very long time, if humans are even still around to accomplish creating a truly peaceful society. If the government tries to take tham before this they are setting this country up for disaster. And what happens if they take our guns and then take our freedom to protest and then take our freedom of speech...? This country was founded on a revolution; what if their needs to be another one (not that I'm proposing it should happen, now or ever, but what if)?

I like to shoot "assault rifles", hand guns, and all the guns they are trying to take away. I don't kill anything with them but I get a great deal of enjoyment from it. People who want to hurt people are going to find a way, with or without guns. They will still be able to get them anyway, they aren't going to care the gun they own is illegal. So why take my guns away from me? I never have (and hopefully never will have to) hurt anybody, for protection or otherwise, especially with a gun so why am I being punished. I know guns were made to kill but that isn't what everyone does with them.
Think about it for a while.

Well im not sure i need to think about it a while, trust me i think too much as it is. If you are truly worried about the goverment taking away rights your way too late. We live in a very represive society right now and if George w gets in look out. I find it ironic that gun advocates support a fascist like bush and yell about rights being taken away. The right wing "christian" (another ironic term) coallition would have us live thier version of the dark ages. They of course have nothing in common with the teachings of Christ, but would allow guns to flow through the country unabated but stop a woman from choosing what to do with HER body and me from choosing what i want to put in MY body as well as any opposition to thier "religious" beliefs. I own a couple of guns. I used them for some target practice a few years ago as well as "home" protection. The idea of protecting yourself against the goverment is just silly as hell though. I understand the concept of home protection, but that is about the only place i see guns being of value. We need very strict laws to keep guns in the right hands as much as possible. Gun show laws are GOOD! We could also let the 60% of people in prison out for the insane "crime" of "using" or "selling" drugs and use the space for the criminals who commit real crimes with or with out guns. If we also could mature a bit and allow adults to choose about drugs then crime itself would decrease by up to 60%. Right now your biggest threat to saftey is some poor sh*t who needs a fix and has to rob for the money to get it. INSANE! It really isnt about guns, but about a general sense of were a country is in its evolution. We are going backwards towards the days of the old west. Gun fights in main street, religious zelots ruling the country, repression of rights, etc. i belive in FREEDOM, so im not into taking away all guns. Just start by being a little more intelligent and ballanced in out approach. However im getting my visa ready and not because of gun laws. If we vote in a man as stupid and dangerous as Bush were one step closer towards being the worlds fools. We will lose all respect and rights. I would love to belive that i could "take it to the streets" with my guns and fight the repressive bulls*it goverment, but i realize the futility of that and i'll just put out the white flag and move. My enemy not being the goverment but the overall ignorance of the way too many people in this country...

Gore just wants the guns away from the crazies? BS!!!
The platform carried on by Clinton, Gore, and their Justice Dept. on guns, any and all guns, is clear. In a case that came out of Texas and went to the 5th Circuit, the Justice Dept. took the stand that the 2nd amendment did not give Americans the right to be armed. The attorney representing the Justice Dept. was laughed out of the 5th Circuit, however its all there in black & white. As far as Gore is concerned we have no 2nd amendment rights. Gore is trying to back up now and say different because he's feeling the heat, but its too late. He & Clinton have lied so much, why believe them now?
          Easy-E,
I'm glad you brought up the votes in Colorado & Oregon. If the electorate goes that way and it does not infringe on the Constitution, that's their business, however as far as what the electorate wants to do doesn't matter to this administation and it won't if Gore gets in. Idaho is a good example of that. They, the people there, have tried on a number of occassions to get to the bottom of Ruby Ridge and have been stymied at every turn. The laws are written in Oregon & Colorado to do away with gunshows. If the people in those states' feel that's what they want, its up to them. Do you think that will be the end of it? I doubt it. Then they'll start having underground shows where there won't be any regulation. The only person that loses out is the law abiding citizens.

Look im no friend of the feds. I was marching from wounded knee on so i dont need lectures. I hate Gore. I just despise Bush. Gore hunts so i at least assume he will allow hunting rifles. As far as hand guns thats like abortion to me. In allmost all cases i detest abortion. BUT in no way am i ready to play god. I let a woman choose. And i guess i wouldnt outlaw handguns...but once again if we empty the prisons of the political prisioners and allow adults to buy whatever the fu*k they want we can stop a lot of the shootings and put those in prison who use guns for crimes. It seems logical first as a country to make sure everyones basic needs are met (even if you dont agree with that need ie. drugs) so to make sure that people commiting violent crimes are doing so only out of self centered or self promoting reasons. We are a very large country and we are based on "allowing" everyone to find thier happiness. We have gone way off course. Gore might have faults but Bush is a right wing christian coallition facsist peroid. Whats worse he is an idiot. Very stupid who has very little idea of what is happining in the world. As well his ideas are very very silly. If you have read Discover mag. a group recently voted the US voting system as the wosrt in the world. Even behind several 3rd world country run offs. If i move it would be to somewhere like Holland. The economy is strong, unemployment is low, there attitude towards work is closer to mine, and they treat adults as ADULTS. We have one thing in common: We both hate aspects of the goverment. I still find it absoulutly amazing that anti-fed people would vote for Bush. Why because he says hes for the people....jesus i have some property in the swamps for sale too. He is for the people...his! If you fit his right wing version of the bible (which again is far removed from Christ) and rich then you'll do ok...

Actually i sound a lot like the gentelman who put the constitution together. Thats the document that started our country. Remember? That was when we rebeled from a controlling goverment, and said fu*k tryanny. And i hope that you realize that to most of the world Bill Clinton was a good president. Only the right wing "christian" (ya right) mentality or morality of ours made us judge so hard. I didnt really say outlaw guns as much as outlaw "crime". I can give you the meaning of the word if you need. Not outlaw choice for christ's sake. Freedom means just that "free"!

                  NICE!

                  Ninjagod,

I thought you were a ignorant housewife that wanted to run around taking away everyones guns and giving them hugs and flowers instead, but damn was I wrong. I agree with every single thing you said in those long posts. In fact I've posted "our" thoughts on the voting system and jail space here on other threads. It's nice to see that someone else in this country realizes these major problems in our government are actually there. I too have been thinking of moving to another country and Holland was my main choice also...this is weird.

P.S. I know the idea of a revolution is assinine but I get so worked up about this country's direction (and existing state) being so far from what it was meant to be I just want to change it all and the only way to do that is to start over, take all the laws that work, get rid of the ones that don't, and start over.

"They of course have nothing in common with the teachings of Christ, but would allow guns to flow through the country unabated but stop a woman from choosing what to do with HER body"

Conservatives focus on the individual that uses the firearm to commit a crime, not the firearm itself.

Conservatives are not concerned with what the woman does with HER body, it's what she does with the body of the unborn child that outrages them.

Yes except they also are pawns for the gun makers. This creates a double standard of sorts. And maybe if they worried about all the children that are allready here and followed christs teachings a little closer the world wouldnt be so messed up. Either body is NOT thiers to worry about. Love, compassion, forgiveness, turining the other cheek...bombing clinics, killing doctors, hatred??? The bible is free most places i know of...maybe they should read it! It makes for some good teachings. But thats right you have to set aside youe ego first. That is very hard to do...

Gore is a brilliant and accomplished man with a serious lack of charisma, and an unfortunate tendency to bend the truth.

Bush is a moderately-intelligent man with strong inter-personal skills. He is good at delegating authority. My concern is not with him, but with the interests he represents.

Nader was a superb consumer advocate, and makes some good criticisms of the major candidates, but this does not qualify him to be president. His foreign-policy experience makes Bush look like Colin Powell. Nader does not have what it takes to lead this country, as likeable as he may be.

I'm voting for Gore. Warts and all, I think he's the best candidate.

BTW, if I was as much of a knee-jerk liberal as I come across sometimes, I would vote for Nader, but Gore's experience is just too much to ignore.

                              End of political aside.
