    In response to Terry's remarks,

I think that is why a lot of instructors offer group and private lessons to their students. The most we ever get in our dojo is 6 or 7 to a class. And our sensei is always directly involved with his students.

When I was taking Judo, Sensei Hussman was always giving demonstrations, monitoring the class, and still participitating with individual students.

I think interaction is very important.

I to think the guy should occasionally practice what he preaches, and get stuck in on the mat. But the majority of his time should be developing all of his students, by observing their performance and correcting it as necessary.

I had a Thai Boxing instructor who did nothing but train with his mate. He would tell us what techniques to perfrom, then perform them himself, never looking at the class members. I left.
