Rickson Gracie is the only smart fighter... he stayed retired with his glory even though he didn't fight sukaraba.. he didn't have to. he fought so much and he won alot of fights and that's that..

if he would have come back and lost.. LEGACY.. DOWN THE DRAIN..

i remember defend.net calling him a coward for not fighting sakuraba.. bla bla bla.. imagin if rickson would come back just cause of the sick fans? that's respect on his part for controlling his emotions.

I totally agree with you crazyjoe. You want to retire with a good reputation. Like people will be thinking about your last fight and if you went out with a bang and was a good fight then thats how people will remeber you. Now if ya come back and then lose or suck, then man there goes your reputation and your legendary status. I reckon shamrock shouldt come back, but he has.

yeah i agree with Bri as well, he had left the sport a legend and would have been remembered that way but I think now when people speak of him instead of talking about his past fights or his other accomplishments the first thing they will talk about is how he talked shit to Tito and then got beat down...and thats a shame but its also his own fault

FRANK Shamrock retired as a legend after he beat the hell out of most people. KEN Shamrock retired as an offshoot into American Professional Wrestling. A legend... in his own mind.


Each choice you make in life reflects back as part of the whole, but to some it reflects back as the whole unto itself. It's ok to make mistakes, as long as you don't repeat them. I see K Shamrock repeating the same mistakes over and over and over.


I have yet to see F Shamrock make any mistakes. Yeah, he's lost, but he's still a champion. Just like Royce. Just like Rickson. Just like Bri Thai, oh...wait, he's not retired yet.


You can lose and be a legend, but you can't be a dumbass and retain the same......

Yea Ken Shamrock lost but it's not just because he's 38 which isn't that old if you ask me. It's also because he sucks. Ken Sucks in his day he only beat people who sucked worse than him. Ken Shamrock in his best day wouldn't be able to beat the Tito Ortiz of today. Tito is too good, he's a better wrestler a better striker he's in better condition and that's with out being all pumped up with steriods and he practices his submission skills everyday and don't forget the year he went to the Abudabi and did quite well. Ken Shamrock is a shitty striker he only knows old school submission wrestling techniques he'd get his ass kicked in the Abudabi by any top caliber submission wrestler of his weight and the only thing Ken Shamrock ever did well was talk smack like he's something better and try to intimidate other fighters and fans. The guys a joke I knew he'd have his ass handed to him the second he wanted that fight, he took it too personal. If I was Tito Ortiz I would have never apoligized to him after the fight for any disrespect I would have just given him another nice big heavty like before. Get Ken Shamrock out of MMA the guy is a joke a has been that never was in the first place. THANK YOU TITO FOR KICKING KENS ASS!

Last Friday, as I was watching Ken Shamrock - the fighter formerly known as "The World's Most Dangerous Man" - getting the living sh-t kicked out of him by Tito Ortiz - aptly labeled "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" - I flashed back to Kingston, Jamaica; January of 1973 and Heavyweight Boxing Champion Smokin' Joe Frazier getting knocked down by challenger George Foreman six times before the fight was stopped in Round 2.

Frazier always had a lot of guts. In September of 1966, at the Garden, he got floored twice in one round by Oscar Bonavena, but came off the deck to win a ten-round unanimous decision over the Argentinian tough guy. Frazier knocked out contenders Doug Jones and George Chuvalo before winning the WBA title in an elimination tournament in 1968, defeating Buster Mathis, a bigger, heavier fighter who had beaten Frazier by decision in the 1964 Olympic trials.

Joe Frazier successfully defended his WBA title six times over the next two years, including a fifth-round TKO of WBC Champ Jimmy Ellis to unify the belts. Then, on March 8, 1971, he fought Muhammad Ali in a fifteen-round classic at the Garden, and won a unanimous decision. It was one of the greatest heavyweight boxing matches ever, but it took a lot out of Frazier, who didn't fight again for the rest of 1971. In 1972, he only fought twice, against weak competition. In January of 1973, Foreman quickly and decisively ended his championship reign. It wasn't pretty. In fact, it was downright scary.

And so it goes with Shamrock. His Octagon battles with such fighters as Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, Oleg Taktarov, and Kimo may be remembered fondly by some (like me), but what will always stand out is the way his face looked after three rounds with Ortiz - like it had gone through a meat grinder. Ortiz, by comparison, looked untouched. What will also stand out is how Shamrock seemed to get "gassed" (or, "blown up," in pro-wrestling parlance) so quickly into the bout. Prior to the fight, Joe Rogan questioned Shamrock's "cardio," and the Fear Factor host was proven right.

Tito Ortiz is state-of-the-art, no question. From his training regimen to his self-promotion, he defines the modern-day UFC. Is he, as he claims, "pound for pound, the best fighter in the world?" Perhaps. Chuck Liddell may have something to say about that in the near future. Liddell's impressive - and explosive - win over Renato Sobral at UFC 40 almost guarantees that he and Ortiz will "get it on" somewhere down the road if the money's right, and if the UFC honchos don't screw things up
