We will post pics & results. I wish I would get a chance to grapple Mr. Furey, hold on to your big bucks because famous people don't give to many shots at their reputation. I really don't even want to talk about it too much till it could happen cause till then it's like I am just talking smack about some one that has tried to improve our sport. Till it happens it's just talk & talks cheap.

Guardmaster. For the record I will be 39 years old in two weeks time. But I am very proud of my ability to act like a kid.
In all seriousness that Matt Furey guy has SOME good common sense training ideas. But the rest is bullshit, in my opinion. Especially "magnetic mind" type nonsense.
Anyway, I could easily beat GRACIEAUSTIN. All I need is a full collection of Matt Furey tapes and videos. I would creep up on him at night, throw them at him, and then run off.
In fact, I would drive off in a very very fast car...........

Matt Furey the King of Crap
This thread is awsome. Some of these replies were so funny I was literally laughing out loud while I read it.
Now on to Matt Furey. He sucks. The guy is out there for one reason and thats to make money. Don't buy into this propaganda that he's promoting MMA, Grappling, Wrestling, or BJJ he's not he's only trying to make money off it. (If you want to know more about this read my thread on the Tapout geeks) In fact Furey in most of his articules tries to down play BJJ. Why? Because the truth is Furey is nothing more than a good wrestler who learned some submissions from some old school prowrestlers. That's it, he doens't know anything else he doesn't know BJJ or submission wrestling. Catch wrestling is nothing more than a made up hyped up marketing scheme. There's no such thing, study your history you will not find the words catch wrestling any where. He claims that collegic wrestling as we have it in the United States evolved from catch wrestling. That's total bull crap. Wreslting came from Greece. In the ancient Greek games there was wrestling for submission and also wrestling for the pin and for the throw or take down all three types of wrestling co-exsited along side each other as separate distinct events. Check out the book Greek Athletes and Athletics by Harold Aurthor Harris if you want know the truth about wrestling in Greece there was never any event or style of wrestling called catch wrestling and nothing that translated to catch wrestling. Next Matt Furey a motivator, that writes programs on mental perfomance based on science that costs an upwards of 100 bucks? What a bunch of crap. Matt Furey doesn't have a masters or doctorates or any degree in general psycology, motivational psycology, or sports psycology. What does he know? He doesn't know anything about exercise physiology, bio-chemistry, kineseology, bio-mechanics, Kinamatics, Motor Learning or any thing else that would qualitify him as an expert in any of the subjects he writes about. He's not certified by the American College of Sports Medicine which is the largest and most respected sports and science organization in the world or certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) which is the only sports and Science organization in the country that is nationally accreditied. I bet you Furey doesn't even know his anatomy beyond where his peder hangs. What's my point? The point is Furey isn't even properly qualified to write about half the stuff he does. All he is is a wanna be coach handing out his advice, that's it and I'm telling you the advice he's giving out isn't worth over a hundred dollars to get. If the guy was a ligitamate professor that has actually studied and done real empirical research that has been Juged and Juried on any of his so called claims, Then yea sure he can charge a hundred plus bucks to tell me what he knows but other wise hearing what Matt Furey has to say is no different that hearing what any one else has to say on any of the subjects he talks about it's nothing more than just his advice.

Groin Grab - that is exactly why I train with Relson & dream of choking the snot out of the King of Catch. As for his teachings & such, I commented before I do some of the work out stuff, but it's nothing he invented. I wanna test his skills because they are questionable. As far as sneaking up on me while I am sleeping, it would be tough. I have a 44 Ruger, a 12 gauge with slugs & a glock 40 in my bedroom & sleep light. I also have my little brother that just got back from Afgainistain crashing on my living room floor (on the mats) he always sleeps with a gun and is a bit high strung when he sleeps. If you get by all that I have a hell of an attack cat, we call the Whiskinator. Good luck. I live on the third floor.

Matt Furey = Wanna Be Stone Cold Steve Austin
Yea I'm with you Gracieaustin I too would like to see how Matt Furey would do against a solid BJJ grappler.
The only thing I can see him doing is perhaps taking you down or you pulling guard on him and then he stalls in the guard the rest of the time the other thing he might try to do is back up out of you're guard and stand you up again oh yea but he'd really be trying to attempt his secret Farmerburns submission techniques that he can do from any position as he mentally controls you with his magnetic mind powers.

One of my wrestling friends knows some of those funky catch wrestling submissions. He tried a toe hold the way they do it, but he just held it there as if he didn't know waht to do with it. I asked him about it after and he says he has never been trained in any kind of submissions. He tried to say that hold was nothing, but I had already recognized it.
Kind of odd for someone that only wrestled during high school and never studied submissions.

That's weird. I can't totally picture it though. What type of toe hold was it and from what position did he do it? I'm pretty well versed in wrestling, Free Style, Collegic and Greko as I competed in all three during highschool and help coach at the highschool by my house so if I knew more specifically what he did I might know if there is a wrestling technique similar to it.
