and have even used the right myself time and time again
That is because you have a big mouth, BOY!

Seriously though, that's a good response. Very true about what sells and what does not where the mass media is concerned.

Personally, I judge nothing of what I read on the mass media. I view all publications (be they conservative op/ed or liberal 'objective' news) with a heavy dose of skepticism.

Have you ever played the telephone game? Give that a whirl and you'll see how the media reproduces 'the truth'.

Journalists are like lawyers, every once in awhile you find a good one........

Only believe the things that I write and you'll be fine.

Thats so true about my mouth! Don Rearender kicked me off his forum in the end! Haw haw haw. I'll email you with the last post I made there, it had me howling with laughter.

Anyway, back to self defence and British Law. Here's an article from British AOL news. You may wish to post it to Don Rearender, but he'll probably ban you as well :-

Pensioner praised for driving off raider

      By Ananova

A judge has praised a pensioner who drove off a hooded raider trying to hold up a Post Office armed with a crowbar.

Brian Godwin, 67, was looking after the White Rock post office in Paignton, south Devon, the robber came in and demanded cash from the till.

Exeter Crown Court heard how Sims raised his weapon and told Mr Godwin: "I have got this."

But the pensioner raised a metal bar of his own and told Sims: "And I have got this" - and hit him on the arm, putting him to flee empty handed, said the prosecutor.

Sims, living at the time in a caravan in Paignton, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery.

The court heard that after his arrest he told the police he had run out of money.

Judge Jeremy Griggs, who commended Mr Godwin for his courage, jailed Sims for four-and-a-half years.

Here's another. This time it is an armed Police Officer protecting himself and others. So much for the "No rights defend yourself in Britain" nonsense :-

An armed man shot dead by Bedfordshire Police on Thursday has been named as 39-year-old Colin O'Connor. Mr O'Connor, who lived with his sister and her two sons in Kempston, Bedfordshire, was a full-time carer for his 84-year-old mother.

The dead man's family demanded to know why the police felt it necessary to kill him. But police have defended the firearms officer who shot and killed Mr O'Connor outside a pub in Clophill after he threatened to open fire.

We thought he might be going to court or hospital. We were shocked to find out he had a gun. Nephew Alan O'Connor said his uncle had left the house on Thursday at 1400 GMT and seemed "out of it".

A warrant had been issued for Mr O'Connor's arrest after he failed to appear at Luton Crown Court on Thursday morning to be sentenced for aggravated vehicle taking.

"We don't think they needed to shoot to kill him. Couldn't they have wounded him?"

Mr O'Connor was shot after police opened fire at a roundabout in the village of Clophill, Bedfordshire, on Thursday at 1745 GMT.

Senior officers said the marksman believed the man had posed a "real and serious threat".

Cliff Dixon, deputy chief constable of Bedfordshire, said on Friday there was no indication of any improper conduct by officers involved in the incident.

He said a handgun loaded with ammunition had been recovered from the scene and was awaiting examination by a forensic science firearms expert.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out and an inquiry into the incident, overseen by the Police Complaints Authority, is under way.

Yes, I do care to elaborate. No offence, but that is nonsense. The British public have the legal right to use force for a number of reasons, including self defence. The force us has to be reasonable in the circumstances.
Well, I guess you told me. Maybe I should believe less of what I read from a few unnamed posters on a few unnamed forums? Only time will tell...

last summer i went to spain but anyways there might be alot of rules or very little there but that doesn't really matter because no one there follows them. for instance i went to one of my friends house there and he had this Huge marijawana(however you spell it)plant. but the cops dont care. you know what my mom said she said that the cops are so scared of terrorists there that the terrorists keep them in line. not saying that terrorists are good. the cops here in the U.S. are way overpowered. spain is alot less restricted than the U.S. Suprise people always say that look how free i am here i'm an america. i'm sorry but spain to me is a hell of alot freeerere. but on the other hand i don't think you can protect yourself from the Gov in spain but in America you can, not sure.but what i am getting at is that i am 99% sure that in spain you can protect yourself from an attacker.

not sure about britain. i do know that the inhabitants there all have bad teeth

better than having rotting teeth. cause then i wouldn't have to look at them....

i remember hearing on BBC world a car bombing focused on only the police. 2 of them died and the terrorists admitted on doing it and i don't think they ever caught them. then you wonder why they are scared.
