"If people say Jeet Kune Do is different from "this" or from "that," then let the name of Jeet Kune Do be wiped out, for that is what it is, just a name. Please don't fuss over it."
-----Great SiGung Bruce Lee-----
I've experienced both although my wing chun isn't really wing chun, it's jun fan gung-fu. I did pick Jujitsu although my primary art is gung-fu. I was leaning towards being able to groundfight for the poll. But in traditional Jujitsu they attack to disarm or submit, hurt or break. Wing Chun is a strong stand up art but the stances are off a bit. For me a fighting stance shouldn't be so square. I grappler will try to run you over. Traditional Jujitsu covers more ranges and that is important. But it really leads to the skill of the individual.

Traditional Wing Chun is an extremely effective martial art. I've been very pleased with my teacher, Sifu Anthony Iglesias. The man can kick some ass and then some.

I voted Ju jutsu, because if you had to choose I think it offers the most alround training - striking and grappling and weapons. Although, not all schools/systems are the same, I am only basing my opinion on the couple of schools here in Perth, Western Australia that I have seen.
Not to write off Wing Chun / Ving Tsun, as this does seem useful in the right hands (if you forgive the pun).

crazyjoe, the way you spell it is the 'Romanji' spelling , not the spelling I would choose but that's not really important.
there are some folks who are very strict about such details and many of those who have studied in japan would argue against that spelling and only use JuJutsu......hope that answered your question

Traditional Japanese JU JUTSU is what both judo and BJJ came from - what makes people here think that all the techniques contained within Judo and BJJ are not contained within traditional Japanese Ryuha? Yes there are joint locks and throws, but also hip & body throws (judo style), ground fighting (BJJ style) and hard striking methods. Judo removed the dangerous & leathal techniques so that it could be taught in schools and BJJ comes from Judo and a small amount of Japanese JJ. So therefor BJJ and judo cant encorporate as good a range of effective techniques IMO. From what i have seen of hapkido it is more akin to basic JuJutsu and not high level techniques.

JUJUTSU is correct - JuJitsu is not.
dont know what the jitsu thing is??
Jitsu means truth. eg - Jitsu wa (tell the truth) - Jutsu means 'Method of' and when applied in a martial sense Jutsu can mean Martial Method.
this is the correct
As for me - i would take JJ, i cross train with a very proficient wing chun man and can use JJ effectively in most situations.
cheers

Chris,
You are correct about the techniques in BJJ and Judo being contained in TJJ in one form or another, but I disagree about the effectiveness. Frankly, I rate BJJ much higher than TJJ in terms of real fighting. That is just one guy's opinion, so it doesn't really matter. However, one must note the Jigoro Kano's Judoka dominated Ju Jitsu schools that trained with kata and one step sparring rather than open practice=all schools. Just something to think about.
