Yeah, it's me. It's also me in the other one where I almost got an armbar. Well, maybe "almost" isn't right. He always escapes my armbar. He may have just let me get it so he could get out of it.

Were you cooperating in the throw to arm bar video? It looks like a demonstraton instead of a competition. Am I correct?

What kind of setup are you using to get from camera to tape to digital to internet?

He got the throw. He kind of suprised me with it.

I know, I know. Now you think I can be thrown easy. And you're right. That's why I'm doing Judo. I don't normally get thrown as easy as it looked in that video, but it was a good throw so that's why I wanted to use it on my site.

My video camera is just a normal 8mm video cam. I use a TV card (ATI TV Wonder VE - 40 bucks at Best Buy) and VirtualDub to capture the video. I believe most TV cards are cheap. I capture directly to DIVX and it works pretty well. My computer isn't fast enough to capture to an uncompressed format.

The videos look very smooth and crisp before I cut the frame rate in half and lower the quality to make the files small.

If you get a TV Wonder VE, don't use the drivers that come with it. Theres a set of generic drivers at sourceforge.net that work a lot better. But any decent TV card should work.

Thanks for the vid info. That may come in handy in the future. I really like your idea of techniques online and might send you some vid from one of my three training venues.

My standup sucks really bad. I'm hoping Judo will improve it. I think it's already improved me some. When I was doing BJJ I was always rolling this wrestling guy at my work. We always started from standing and I could NEVER get anything on him. I always ended up with him taking me down and getting position, then I'd have to escape and get position and if I was lucky I would tap him. I rolled with him yesterday and I came close to a seoinage a couple of times and finally got him to his knees with an osoto gari but he recovered pretty quick. I would have never been able to do it before I started Judo.

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist making fun of me after seeing me get thrown like that. But that's my plan. I'll let you see me getting whipped. And then when you face me you'll see things from a very different perspective

            WRAAA HAHAHAHA!!!

By the way, there is a Judo tournament coming up just outside of Topeka, KS. It's on March 8th.

I turned in a check for my USJI insurance and membership the other day so I should have it way before the tournament. I don't know if it's a USJI sanctioned event or not but I believe it is.

I'd have to drive about 3 hours back and forth to attend but maybe it will be worth it.

If I go, I'm taking my wife along so she can tape it.

Make sure you post the footage of your matches. I gotta study the training films.

One of our Judo Brownies is an ex wrestler and he is the ranking student in the club. He is wicked fast and slippery and has endurance from hell.

When I get solid conditioning I'm going after him! If I tap him, then I'll have accomplished something.

Do you realize that in most tourneys white belts can't use arm locks? I'm freakin' bummed.

Last night I was rolling (half speed) at the club and working with a guy whom I tapped about a dozen times, with, guess what....arm bars.

                DANGIT!

I guess you have to enter the Brownies to do kansetsuwaza.

We have a tourney in two weeks, and another at the end of March. Hopefully I can get in the last one. Lots of work to do.

                Good luck!

I heard about not being able to use submission holds in tournaments but I thought that was for kids. I asked the guys in my club and they told me I could use submissions.

That would really suck if I ended up on the mat and couldn't use any chokes or armbars. I'd rely a lot on submissions because I can't get people in pins worth a damn.

I will have to talk to the guys at my club some more.

By the way, do you use Yahoo Messenger?

I have in the past. I'll install it next week and we can cast insults directly.

Chokes are ok, but armlocks are out. At least for the tourneys I am looking at.

I had juji gatame set in last night, from the guard and rolled him over.

The visiting black belt warned me not to be rough with the newbies. Thing is, this guys been there 6 months. I been there two weeks...

UPDATED. Looks 100% better. Uses a style sheet now. If anyone thinks the page looks funky, please let me know. The style sheet may not work on everyone's computer.
