  • Integrating Freestyle wrestling techniques

Hi all, I've seen some comments on the benefits (and drawbacks) of wrestling techiniques here in the forums.

I'm curious, what wrestling techniques (if any) would you incorporate into your own bag of tricks and how would you integrate them with BJJ?

[This thread is a page back, but I've something to contribute.]

Wrestling techniques can be blended very fast by establishing a clear perspective on safety interjections in basic (and some comprehensive) techniques.

For instance, the hip-toss. This move has been taught so that you follow your assailant down, finishing with a form of reverse half-nelson. It can be adapted to combat by dropping the finish, and simply letting the opponent fall.

The traditional takedowns are also very helpfull. Double leg, single leg, high-crotch, and the bear-hug can all be effective with slight revonations. With the legs, pull back as your opponent falls downward so that he slams into the ground, or drive foreward instead of cutting over to ensure you land on top.. The bear hug can be used to control an opponents landing, and you have immediate coverage.
