Great Sage .. i have a same situation to the "when to walk away"

me and my boys were in hollywood passing out flyers and i passed a flyer to some guy.. that fool just bumped my flyer and just dissrespected me..

    i was like.. what!!

    i said "f.uck you then"..

he came back with all his buddies.. and we were like even... if you ever been to sunset there is cops all over people everywhere..

both groups knew the consiquences if there was to be a big rumble but i was like what ever homie.. what's up and he kept talkin shit.. they kept like saying "f.uck you fools" bla bla bla...

we hesitated.. we walked away.. i was like

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I WANTED TO STRIKE! BUT ... damn..
so anyways.. we had to walk back and when we passed the same group that fool told me.. "what are you looking at punk!"

i said.. like a man.. "i'm trying to keep it cool, but it seems like you are not letting me do that" ... his other friends.. jumped in like.. "man it's all good we all came here to see bitches.. no need for all that".. i was.. like in my head.. "damn finally someone dropped the pride and just said it"..

i was kinda happy nothing went down.. i was ready but..

WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO IS PRIDE..

PRIDE WILL PUT YOU IN A TIGHT SPOT ..

so it depends on the situation.. sometimes when you have the fighting skill you still feel jittery about fighting..

    "what if i lose"

"what if he wins and i'm taking all theses classes.. still got whooped"

"what if he pulls a knife"

what if his friends are around and i just don't see them"

you did the right thing with your sister there.. dont trip..

In the words of Marcellus Wallace (Pulp Fiction) - "That's pride f---in' with you. F--- pride! Pride only hurts, it never helps"

I think you did the right thing. It's not worth fighting over, regardless of whether you maim the guy and teach him his lesson or get your a$$ kicked. Violence for the sake of violence is pointless. If he had confronted you or your sister or if you felt either of you were in immediate danger, then it would be a different story. It's more honorable to be able to control your skills and your fury than it is to fight everyone that may look at you funny.

Discipline is power. Pride is weakness. Learn the difference.

I think that most fights are caused by at least one person needing to prove something to someone. I have seen it alot and it always makes me wonder if its worth the beating or jail time in the end.
Personaly speaking I answer all aggresson with force and all precieved threats with the same attitude. I will not disrespect someone and I will not be openly disrespected.
If someone said something to my sister and it was really nasty he would be apologizeing with or without his teeth. the choice would be his
