  • tung soo do and bjj

i am kinda new to martial arts i used to be big into issin ryu a couple years ago. but at my new school theres this guy thats almost a black belt in tung soo do. he say that tung so do is much better that bjj and that if he spared a bjj guy from the school im about to goto
    gomezacademy.com
he would easly beat them cuz ju jitsu guys cant stand and fight that when they try to grab him he will just pound them. i told him that i think that theres no way that he could do that cuz of what ive seen in ufc. if you guys know anything about tung soo do what do you think?
im 16 and in a school where peeps goto when they get kicked out of normal school

      Try it all!

      Hey Tool,

I have come to the conclusion that artial arts is like a personal journey, and it's a lot of fun!
Try Tang Soo do and see how you like it. Do it for a few months and if you don't like it for whatever reason (Teacher, school, style, etc....), try something else.

You should always try different stuff anyway. Try the Tang soo do Kung Fu, Bjj, JKD (Jun Fan Gung Fu), FMA (Filipino martial arts), Muy Thai (Thai boxing), etc.............
(I don't mean try them all at the same time!)

As you learn one system and venture into others, you'll discover whole new arts that will open your eyes into different prespectives. Eventually, you'll incorporate what works for you and what feels right for YOU!
Of course, it all matters what your goal is in the martial arts, and how long you want to train.

On the other hand, some guys study Shotokan Karate for 15 years of their life. Seems to boring and limited to me!

      Find your own path!

Ps. What did this badass instructor say about Bruce Lee?

you will meet alot of talkers in your life. everybody wants to be somebody. .Some more then others. Do what you want and know what you know. Thats the truth you will have. Tang soo do or bjj Wont win the fight the person that can use it will. And any body that can say the wont end up on the ground in a fight with a ground fighter has not fought one yet. We all learn in time and hes young yet. So his eyes will become open one day. Until then let him talk. Hes only hurting his self.

I knew someone who was all talk--he was 16 and though he was a badass because he took 2 years of karate. Well one day this street punk who couldnt have been more than 14 tried to mug him and the talker tried one of his little karate forms and got his ass whooped.
